Classroom Highlights
3rd Grade
Third grade students enjoy team building! We discussed characteristics of having a cooperative and caring classroom community. We followed this discussion with making a third grade friendship quilt.
Spanish Class
1st grade Spanish students had fun using the Chatterpix Kids app to create their own talking animal videos. 6th grade students realized that poetry doesn't stop in language arts class! They were illustrators and poets at the same time as they wrote Spanish poetry in the shape of the various objects they were describing. Check them out in the ASC room. Preparations for the Spanish mass are well underway. Please join us Wednesday 11/20 for this special event. And finally, be looking for a note about All Souls Day to be coming home. If you would like a loved one to be remembered on All Souls Day, kindly write the name on the sticky note that will be sent home and return to school by Thursday 10/31.  ¡Gracias!

Conference Note: Sra. Stockinger will be available for conferences on Thursday 11/7, but will not be in the building on Friday 11/8. Please email to set up a conference time.

To ensure our ability to secure, sustain, and grow our ministries that serve our children, youth, and adults now and for generations to come, we must have safe, comfortable, and appropriate space to support our worship, education, fellowship, and outreach activities.

We are now gathering important information to share with all parishioners and school families during four identical presentation/dialogue meetings scheduled for:

            o Sunday afternoon November 10, 2019 4:00 p.m. – 5:45 p.m.

            o Tuesday morning November 12, 2019 8:30 a.m. – 10:15 a.m.

            o Tuesday evening November 12, 2019 6:30 p.m. – 8:15 p.m.

            o Thursday evening November 14, 2019 6:30 p.m. – 8:15 p.m.

These meetings will provide the results from the initial community input sessions facilitated last March by our master planning and facility assessment team – ATS&R from Golden Valley. During the four identical meetings, we will review and discuss our parish and school mission, history, demographics, volunteer leadership, education programs, finances, current deficiencies in our facilities, a proposed phased master plan to improve and expand our facilities, contractor tested conceptual cost estimates, guiding principles for a potential capital campaign, and the next steps in the process.

We intend to provide you with the best information we currently have available, and will solicit your comments, questions, and constructive ideas about the proposal. The process we are using to present the information and solicit your feedback is called a Feasibility Study which will include the four parish meetings, personal interviews, and written surveys from those who choose to attend. The study will be directed by Hal Johnson and Associates of Bloomington, a church resource development consultant with 45+ years of experience working with 303 clients.

As a valued member of our community, your response to the information you receive through this Feasibility Study will help guide our next steps. Therefore, your participation is not only welcome, but it is essential to create a forward-thinking and fiscally responsible plan for Good Shepherd. At each meeting, childcare will be provided for those who need it, and refreshments will also be served.

Throughout our 73-year history, the time, talent, and treasure of hard-working volunteers, staff, and parishioners have accomplished many great things. Now we have the privilege and responsibility of shaping how we might provide safe, accessible, and functional facilities for this generation and those who will join us in the future.

God has entrusted us with this important task, so let’s fully embrace it. Stay tuned for more information in the weeks to come. Thank you!
