The Marathon is THIS Saturday (October 5th)!  The students have been doing a great job working hard to get pledges.  Keep up the great work!

We have currently raised $76,000. If we raise another $20,000 this week, the students will get to SLIME Father Marquard! Please complete this form or send a note with your child tomorrow.  Thank you so much for your help!  We will see you on Saturday!

Double your Marathon Donation with a company match!
Many MN corporations offer donation-matching gifts to give back to the community. This is a great way to raise money for the school and can count towards your child’s Marathon total! Check the list below or ask your employer if this is something they offer!

Looking for Subs
Good Shepherd is looking for people with an education background who would be interested in being an occasional sub in our building. Please contact Angie Ruehle at angieruehle@gsgvschool.org for more information.
Classroom Highlights
1st Grade
The 1st graders did an apple taste test. They tasted 6 types of apples and their favorite was the RiverBelle!
Phy Ed
The Preschool, Kindergarten and First grade students are participating in S.M.A.R.T. activities in Phy Ed class. S.M.A.R.T. stands for Stimulating Maturity through Accelerated Readiness Training. It is a multi-sensory approach to learning for 3-8 year olds that involves brain stimulation activities, to help prepare the children to learn. This program develops visual, auditory, balance, fine and gross motor readiness, all required skills essential for classroom and academic success.
A Note from the Specialist Teachers

Parents, please review the grading letters below. These letters must be signed by parent and student and returned to school. If you would prefer a paper copy to be sent home with your child, please request from the school office.

Send Box Tops by Oct. 11!

The fall Box Tops for Education drive will be held the week of Oct. 7-11. The class that brings in the most Box Tops will win a pizza party!

What do I need to do?
  • Check the participating products list to see where you’ll find Box Tops.
  • Check your pantry and cupboards.
  • New this year: Get the app! Just download the app and scan your receipts. The app will find participating products and instantly add Box Tops to your school's earnings online.
Why Box Tops?
Each Box Top is worth 10¢ for Good Shepherd. This really adds up fast and is a great way for our school to earn money!

Helpful Box Tops tips:
Organizing your Box Tops before you turn them in is a huge help for room parents. Here are some tips:
  • Check the expiration dates – we can’t accept any that are older than November 2019.
  • Clip the Box Tops as neatly as you can and bundle them in stacks of 10 or 25. You can also use the attached collection sheet to keep them organized.
  • You’ll be hearing from your Room Parent with more details on Box Tops collection and instructions on turning them in.
