Are You Ready? The Baldwin County Emergency Management Agency will host a Disaster Preparedness Expo this Wednesday, May 15th from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Orange Beach Event Center. 

The county has partnered with local municipalities including Orange Beach, volunteer organizations, and local vendors to provide information and display educational materials regarding disaster planning, mitigation, response, and recovery information to the general public.  The event is free and open to the public. 

The Expo will include educational presentations, volunteer opportunities, preparedness information, and resources to assist in planning for and recovering from the impacts of disaster.

Week 50 School Progress 

This week's aerials - Week 50 taken on Wednesday, May 8, 2019 - show the construction progress at the site of the future Orange Beach High School and Middle School on Canal Road. Of note, the second story is taking shape and roof frames are being put in place on some of the one-story sections. The comparison photo shows Week 35 (Week of Jan. 21st) to Week 50 (Week of May 6th).

Planning commission meeting set May 13th

The Orange Beach Planning Commission is scheduled to meet at 2:30 p.m. Monday, May 13th for a work session followed by the 4 p.m. regular meeting in the Council Chambers at City Hall. Find the agenda for the May 2019 Planning Commission meeting on the City Website.

OBFD Recruit Class Graduation on May 16th

On Thursday, May 16th a graduation ceremony for the Orange Beach Fire Rescue Recruit Class 19-01 will start at 2 p.m. at the Orange Beach Event Center. The public is invited. The graduates will have completed nine weeks of training in skills necessary to perform as firefighters. Graduates represent departments in Orange Beach, Gulf Shores, Spanish Fort and Prichard.

Mark your Calendar: Annual OBFD BBQ  

The 53rd Annual Orange Beach Fire Department BBQ will take place Saturday, June 8 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. - or until the 'Que runs out - at the Orange Beach Community Center, located at 27235 Canal Road, across the street from Fire Station No. 2. Don't miss this! Get your Willy Wonka tickets!   

The City of Orange Beach Expect Excellence Theater Program will present Roald Dahl’s Willy Wonka on Thursday, May 23rd at the Orange Beach Event Center. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are on sale now on the City Website. The ticket cost is $15 for adults and $10 for children (12 and under). Purchase tickets online at the City Website. 

Early registration for Youth Soccer underway

Early registration for Orange Beach Fall Youth Soccer is open and runs through May 25th. Those who register early will be offered a discounted rate of $55 for children ages 4 to 14 (as of August 1st, 2019). Late registration begins July 15th and runs until July 31st. Junior Lifeguard program planned for June   

The Orange Beach Fire Department’s Surf Rescue squad will offer two Junior Lifeguard Program sessions in the Summer of 2019. The first session will be held June 10-14 for ages 9 to 11, and the second session will be offered June 24-28 for ages 12 to 15.  Find registration information and other details about the Junior Lifeguard Program on the City Webiste. 

Kids Summer Tennis Camp sign-ups underway 

The 2019 Orange Beach Summer Kids Tennis Program will have sessions in June and July for all skill levels at the Orange Beach Tennis Center. Children must be at least 7 years old to participate. See the City Website for Summer Kids Tennis Program registration information and course schedule.
