All Orange Beach parents are highly encouraged to attend an informational meeting this Wednesday, December 12th at the Orange Beach Community Center with Mayor Tony Kennon. 

It will be an opportunity to share questions and concerns that will be collected and presented to county school staff at a meeting in January. Childcare will be provided. Find childcare registration information on the City Website at

Gingerbread Jam success! 

Congratulations to all of the winners at the Gingerbread Jam on Saturday, December 1st at the Orange Beach Recreation Center. See all of the incredible edible creations and winner photos on the Rec Center's Facebook page. The event was a fundraiser for the City of Orange Beach Expect Excellence Culinary Arts Program. 

Planning commission to meet on Monday 

The Orange Beach Planning Commission is scheduled to meet at 3 p.m. Monday, December 10th for its work session followed by its 4 p.m. regular meeting in the Council Chambers at City Hall. See the agenda for the Dec. 10th Planning Commission meeting on the City Website. 

Light Up the Arts returns Thursday 

The Coastal Arts Center of Orange Beach is hosting its annual Light Up the Arts event from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday, December 13th. The free event will include fine art, hot chocolate, fun raffles, a “Jingle Mingle Jewelry Show,” hot glass and cool clay demonstrations, and much more. Council meets on Tuesday 

The Orange Beach City Council will hold its regular meeting at 5 p.m. Tuesday, December 11th, followed by the Committee of the Whole meeting. The meeting was rescheduled from Tuesday, December 18th due to the Christmas holiday. Find the agenda for the Dec. 11th council meeting on the City Website. 

Winter Wonderland planned on the trail

The Hugh S. Branyon Backcountry Trail Foundation will host Winter Wonderland from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, December 19th at the trailhead at the Orange Beach Sportsplex. The public is invited to this free event that will include “snow,” sledding, hot chocolate, cookies and other Santa-filled fun. Along with the Backcountry Trail Foundation, the Orange Beach Coastal Resources Department coordinates this fun and festive event.

Senior Center December 2018 Activities 

The Orange Beach Adult/Senior Activity Center has announced its December 2018 Excursions and Events. There is still some room on the trips planned for this week! Read about the Senior Center's December activities.

The Orange Beach and Gulf Shores area has been selected as a top retirement destination in the sixth edition of “America’s 100 Best Places to Retire,” a comprehensive guidebook of the country’s most appealing retirement towns.
