Family fun 'Treats on the Trail' starts at 5 p.m. tonight!

The community is invited to come out and enjoy "Treats on the Trail" from 5-7 p.m. tonight - Friday, October 28th - hosted by the Hugh S. Branyon Backcountry Trail Foundation and the Orange Beach Coastal Resources Department. The trail of treats begins at the Orange Beach Sportsplex Trailhead and ends at AL’s Parkour Park on the Twin Bridges Trail.

There will be trick or treating, a costume contest, a cake walk, sack races, Disney characters on the trail, and S'mores, along with other Halloween fun.

City Council to meet Nov. 1

The Orange Beach City Council is scheduled to meet at 5 p.m. Tuesday, November 1st in the Council Chambers at City Hall, followed by the Committee of the Whole work session. The council meeting will be streamed live on the city's Facebook page at www.facebook.com/orangebeach. The agendas are available at https://orangebeach.novusagenda.com/agendapublic
Governor attends ribbon-cutting ceremony Friday morning for The Launch at ICW  

Thank you to Gov. Kay Ivey, Sen. Chris Elliott, state, county and local officials for coming out to the Baldwin County Commission’s ribbon cutting this morning for The Launch at ICW in Orange Beach.

The 47-acre Orange Beach property has over 1,700 feet of water frontage, six boat launches, lighted boat and car parking, six covered pavilions with picnic table seating, a grand pavilion, and over a mile of concrete sidewalks and boardwalks throughout the pavilion and launch areas.

Governor Ivey committed the State of Alabama to providing $10.1 million in state GOMESA funding to help bring this long-awaited project to fruition while the Baldwin County Commission committed an additional $8.1 million dollars in County GOMESA funding, and an additional $750,000 of local County funds to support the project.



First responders, military veterans to be honored this Saturday at Waterfront Park

Baldwin County Chapter 531 of the National Sojourners will host a ceremony honoring first responders and military veterans at 11:30 a.m. this Saturday, October 29th at Orange Beach Waterfront Park. 

The public is invited to join the group in honoring the brave men and women who put their health and lives at risk daily to serve our communities in Baldwin County. Donations for the Orange Beach Police Benevolence Fund will be accepted on site with 100 percent of all donations accepted going directly to the fund. 

Waterfront Park is at 26425 Canal Road.

November Community Potluck to feature annual first-responder awards

The Orange Beach Community Association will honor Orange Beach first responders at the November Community Potluck on Monday, November 7th at 6 p.m. at the Community Center.  A police officer and a firefighter will be honored at the annual appreciation night. 

Last year at the annual awards night and potluck, Fire Medic Jarrod Smith was named the 2021 Firefighter of the Year. The 2021 Officer of the Year award was presented to the family of Brandon Ard, who passed away in August 2021 due to complications associated with COVID-19.  Chief Dispatcher Julie Bonifay was named the police department’s 2021 Civilian Employee of the Year. The award winners are chosen by their co-workers. 

The Monthly Community Potluck is open to anyone. It is requested that those attending bring a side dish or dessert, or a $5 donation if you are unable to bring a food item to contribute to the meal. November’s entrée is fried chicken.

Doors open at 6 p.m. dinner starts at 6:30 and the program at 7 p.m.  

The Orange Beach Community Center is at 27235 Canal Road.

Another beach season is coming to an end today - Friday, October 28th. Please be advised that there will be NO LIFEGUARDS ON DUTY until March 2023! Patrols and response will be limited.
Know your own swimming abilities/ don’t swim past your limits, be aware of your surroundings and never swim alone.

REC LEAGUE WINTER SPORTS REGISTRATION IS OPEN
 

Registration for the City of Orange Beach's Youth Basketball and Flag Football 2022-23 winter season will be open through November 6, 2022 for boys and girls ages 5-12.

The registration fee is $80 for each sport.
