This is it! The last full week of summer before kids go back to school on August 10th is here. Smile some more, take an extra ride on the boat, and add a few more footprints and memories on our beautiful white-sand beaches.

City Council to meet August 2

The Orange Beach City Council is scheduled to meet at 5 p.m. Tuesday, August 2nd in the Council Chambers at City Hall, followed by the Committee of the Whole work session. The council meeting will be streamed live on the city's Facebook page at Once posted, the agendas are available at

Fall Youth Sports registration now open for soccer, 12U contact football and cheerleading


Late registration for Fall 2022 Orange Beach youth soccer 5U-14U is open to August 15th.

Late registration for Fall 2022 12U Orange Beach Contact Football is open through August 15th to all children ages 9-12 who reside in Orange Beach and those who attend Orange Beach Elementary School. The registration fee is $80. (Please note that the roster for 10U Contact Football is full.)

Orange Beach Youth Cheerleading is open to all students, ages 9-12, who attend Orange Beach City Schools or are residents of Orange Beach. Registration is open to August 15th with a $100 fee. 

**Please note: Girls can still play soccer while participating in cheerleading.**

Register now: Full Moon Paddle returns August 12

The last Full Moon Paddle of the 2022 summer season is scheduled for Friday, August 12th at the Orange Beach Wind & Water Learning Center on Wolf Bay.

The cost is $30 with all proceeds going to the Baldwin County Child Advocacy Center. The fundraising paddle will include dinner by Wolf Bay Seafood and Steak, entertainment by Basch Jernigan & Kelly West, and a guided paddle across Wolf Bay to watch the sunset and full moon rise. Dinner and entertainment at 6:15 p.m., with the paddle starting at 7 p.m.

The Wind & Water Learning Center is at 26267 Canal Road, behind the Orange Beach Public Library.  

Pre-registration is required. Registration closes at 5 p.m. Thursday, August 11th. Online registration is available at

All funds raised go directly to the Baldwin County Child Advocacy Center.

  • Participants must bring their own kayak or canoe, lifejacket and white light (headlamps work best). 
  • Participants must wear life jackets during the paddle. 
  • Paddling experience is recommended.

3rd Annual MAAAC Gala set for August 13 

The Orange Beach Makos Academics, Arts, and Athletics Club will host its 3rd Annual MAAAC Gala in the Grand Ballroom of Perdido Beach Resort on Saturday, August 13th at 6 p.m. 

It will be a fun-filled party to remember as MAAAC kicks off its fundraising for the year in support of Orange Beach schools. Attendees will enjoy the luxury resort atmosphere, exquisite dining, cash bar, music, dancing, and a silent auction. The doors to the Ballroom Foyer will open at 6 p.m. with the silent auction available for all guests to bid on throughout the evening. 

This spectacular night of fun and fundraising will celebrate the new Orange Beach City School Board, Superintendent Randy Wilkes, and school staff while thanking all in the community that have supported the MAAAC over the past year.

Expect Excellence After School Program Registration 

The City of Orange Beach Expect Excellence After School Program registration is now open. Find details on the Expect Excellence page on the City Website. 
Wish you could be part of her world? Now you can! 

Calling all 4th-6th grade students, register for the Expect Excellence After-School program Show Choreography class on Wednesdays from 4:30-5:30 p.m. for auditions and ensemble rehearsals for “Disney’s The Little Mermaid”! 

Adult auditions will be held in September. Shows are set for Feb. 2-5 at the Orange Beach Performing Arts Center.


The Orange Beach Literary Journal is looking for submissions from kindergarten through 12th grade. Find more information at or see the article: Expect Excellence literary journal now taking submissions.
Expect Excellence Word Play - a creative writing class that explores how to write short stories, poetry, comics, nonfiction pieces and more! This class is one of the choices when children are signed up the Expect Excellence After-School program. 

Help us bring the spirit of Christmas to our community! Auditions for the City of Orange Beach Expect Excellence Music Department’s 2nd Annual Visions of Christmas production will be held August 1st through August 5th between 9 a.m. and 7 p.m. Dancers, singers, and instrumentalists are needed. Orange Beach Fire Station No. 3 construction crews hit the ground running early this week and by Tuesday (shown in photos), walls were going up. The new four-bay Fire Station No. 3 on Canal Road, south of The Wharf, is expected to be open by next summer. In January, M. W. Rogers Construction was awarded the contract to build the new fire station with a low bid of $5.4 million. McCollough Architecture, Inc. is the project engineer.


The Orange Beach Recreation Center/Expect Excellence Building will be closed Saturday, August 6th through Tuesday, August 9th for gymnasium floor maintenance. There will be no Basketball Open Gym times, Pickleball or Zumba classes during this time. The closure WILL NOT affect the Fitness Center operations. 

  • Pickleball fall session will begin on Wednesday, August 10th and will be available Monday to Friday only, 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on six courts. There will be no weekend pickleball after July 31.
