The Youth Homelessness Demonstration Program (YHDP) is a U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development-funded process to address and end youth homelessness in counties and cities nationwide. In 2021, Detroit was awarded a federal grant and this amazing opportunity to improve our city-wide response to youth homelessness.
The YHDP is a 6-month process resulting in a Coordinated Community Plan (CCP) and the creation of multiple youth-specific programs to address and end youth homelessness. Our CCP will be an amalgamation of data, testimonials, and advice used to fuel future action regarding youth homelessness. Necessitating the assistance of service providers in sectors like healthcare, the juvenile justice system, and education, the CCP calls for stakeholder input and is meant to be a collaborative process.
We need you, as representatives of a diverse group of stakeholders, to make your voices heard in this process. We know you will provide invaluable insight into the needs of youth, the service of youth, and the holes that exist in our provision of assistance. We need you to help us create a better home for youth in Detroit.
