As 2021 is winding down, I want to pause to reflect on how the year has gone and look ahead to goals for 2022. I welcome you to join me. 🙂 The link party closes on December 31, 2021 at 11:55 pm (Pacific Standard Time), so you have plenty of time to join in. Feel free to write your own blog post or share using #2022PlanningParty if you post to social media.

Best of 2021 Linky Party

Every year, my friend Cheryl from Meadow Mist Designs hosts a Best of... linky party as a way to celebrate and look back on 2021. She will be opening the link up later this month, and you can read all about what to expect in her Best of 2021 Linking Party Coming Soon post.

Cotton Cuts 10 Month Puzzle Mystery Quilt

In 2022, I am going to be participating in a Charity Quilt Project through Cotton Cuts. Cotton Cuts is about to kick off their next Puzzle Mystery Quilt Along, and I will be sewing one of the clues in the Aebleskiver colorway. The quilt assembled by guest designers like me will then be raffled off to raise money for One Common Thread. Here are the Puzzle Mystery Quilt FAQs if you are interested in learning more. I'll share my pieces and how to enter the raffle next year!

Scant Quarter Hour

I am going to be interviewed and part of Scant Quarter Hour tomorrow, December 16th. If you are unfamiliar with Scant Quarter Hour, here the description from their website:

"Scant Quarter Hour is made up of the quilty-dynamic duo of Steph Skardal and Isabelle Selak. We started recording a weekly scant quarter hour (~14 minutes) of quilty content on IGTV in April of 2020, as the world was shut down during the COVID-19 pandemic.

We love podcasts (and there are lots of great sewing and quilty podcasts out there!), but we wanted to share quilty news, interviews, and cultivate community in a format that allowed us to express tone and facial expressions."

All Scant Quarter Hour episodes are released through Instagram TV.

Project QUILTING Season 13

Project QUILTING will be starting its 13th season in January 2022! Project QUILTING was dreamed up by my quilting friend Kim from Persimon Dreams (whom you might also recognize as being the coordinator of this year's Old School BOM project). If you haven't heard about Project QUILTING before, you can get all the details from Kim on her Project QUILTING page.

While I have never participated in Project QUILTING myself, I love the idea of the challenge and have seen amazing work created each year. This year, I am a proud sponsor of Project QUILTING and look forward to seeing all the challenges and the creative entries!

Speaking of the Old School BOM - the final block has been released! I will share about the final block and my layout once I can get the block sewn and a plan pulled together, haha!

Reader Quilt - Downstream

I received a delightful email the day before Thanksgiving; Rosemarie sent me a photo of her beautiful version of Downstream! She shared, "My husband (retired architect and oil painter) added the additional orange segments in the upper right; I quite like these. And my friend Jenn Saxena of Heartfelt Quilting did the fabulous longarming; it's a new point-to-point technique (completely software-driven) she has started using." I love the collaboration and additional pops of orange!

If you've made a quilt using one of my patterns, I would love to see. Please tag me @quiltingjetgirl when you share on social media or send me an email with a photo to

Curated Questions

Have you heard about Curated Questions? Curated Quilts is kicking off Curated Questions in early 2022, a series of discussions designed to give you a closer look at the inner workings of the quilting world. The goal is to pull the curtain back and give you a behind-the-scenes look at what it’s really like to work in this community and turn your passion project into a business.

"Starting January 18, join Curated Quilts each week for a lively panel discussion where you can get answers to your frequently asked questions. The panelists have extensive experience and come from a variety of backgrounds. These frank, honest discussions will show you the ins and outs of fabric design, book publication, teaching, and pattern design.

  • Teaching: Irene Roderick, Carole Lyles Shaw, Christa Watson
  • Fabric Design: Carrie Bloomston, Annie Chen
  • Pattern Design: Nicole Daksiewicz, Mary Davis, Yvonne Fuchs, Meaghan O’Malley
  • Book Publishing: Jacquie Gering, Andrea Tsang Jackson, Riane Menardi Morrison

The live discussions will be conducted via Zoom at 7 p.m. Eastern on the following dates:

  • Jan. 18 - Teaching
  • Jan. 25 - Fabric Design
  • Feb. 1 - Pattern Design
  • Feb. 8 - Book Publication

Come with your questions for these experts in our field - we expect each discussion to be one hour, and will follow up with a Q&A Session immediately after.

Because we have a global audience (and because we know that sometimes even the best laid plans are disrupted at the last minute), ticketed participants will also have access to recordings of the discussions for one year."

Currently, tickets are available for all four events as a group, but tickets will be individually available later in December.

This is probably my favorite time of year for quilt making. Even with all the hustle and bustle of the holidays, the weather is perfect for working on a quilt! Whatever your schedule allows, I hope that you enjoy a wonderful holiday and have a bit of time for quilting in this season.

Happy Holidays and Happy New Year!
