FUNGUSCHAIN FINAL CONFERENCE

Each year million tons of mushroom byproducts are generated in Europe. FUNGUSCHAIN project aims at the integral valorisation of agricultural residues from mushroom, in particular from agaricus bisporus processing into bio-based functional additives and biopolymers using a cascading approach and demonstrating its industrial viability by building a new biorefinery and modifying industrial current lines. MUSHROOM WASTE APPLIED TO THE FOOD SECTOR

For every Kg of mushrooms harvested, approximately 25% is left behind and is treated as waste. This is the part of the mushroom stalk that connects the mushroom to the compost. As part of one of the main goals of the FUNGUSCHAIN project, Monaghan took the brave first step of establishing a processing centre for the pre-treatment and stabilisation of the raw material from mushroom production. STAKEHOLDERS MEETING

Next 20th of April, FUNGUSCHAIN consortium will celebrate one last virtual event where Stakeholders and end users will find a place to further witness the project scientific results. Within this meeting, the products Technical Factsheets will be presented, in wich some extra information about Protein Powder, Glucans, Chitosan, Lipids and polyphenols, and Fermentable sugars will be shared. There will be time for attendees to ask questions and have a discussion.
