FRIENDS OF JONES ONLINE AUCTION!
Friends of Jones is excited to host the 2023 Jones Online Auction to benefit the Jones College Prep community!
Bid on exciting auction items, NOW until May 1, 2023! Auction proceeds go to Friends of Jones to support academic, arts, music, theater, and athletic clubs, organizations and programs for our wonderful Jones students!
Auction items range from ... unique Jones College Prep experiences, such as reserved seats for graduation and reserved parking spots .... to tickets to the theater and sold-out concerts (Oh hey, Taylor Swift!) ... to restaurant gift certificates ... to amazing vacation getaways ... and more!

YES ! We still need volunteers for spring events!
Adult volunteers are needed to make upcoming student events possible and successful! To volunteer, you must be approved by the CPS Department of Volunteers – see information below for how to be approved (it’s quick and easy!).
After you have been approved by CPS, you may sign up to volunteer via this Google Form: 2023 JCP Spring Volunteer Sign-Up. Please review responsibilities, times and locations prior to signing up. Volunteers should expect to receive a reminder email with additional details 1 to 3 days prior to the event. Questions? Please contact Volunteers@friendsofjones.org.
Wednesday, April 26: Class of 2023 Panoramic Photo
8:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.; Volunteers will walk with students to Buckingham Fountain and back to Jones. Upon returning to Jones, volunteers are needed to assist with the senior students’ lunch (provided by FOJ).
Saturday, May 13: Senior Prom
6:45 p.m. – 10:15 p.m., Palmer House Hilton, 17 East Monroe Street; Volunteers are needed to manage coat check and supervise the students.
Saturday, May 20: Great America Trip
Details tbd; Volunteers are needed to ride the bus with Jones students to Great America, supervise the Jones students at the park, and ride the bus back to Jones with the students.

How to become a CPS volunteer
CPS volunteers must be approved by the CPS Department of Volunteers. For most events, a Level II will suffice.
If you have not applied to be a volunteer for this school year, you may apply online at Volunteer Programs | Chicago Public Schools (cps.edu). After you apply, please give Jones' Volunteer Coordinator, Mrs. Rayburn, a copy of your driver’s license or state ID, either in person or via email at trayburn@cps.edu.

Chinese PCLH+ Club @ International Night
In March, Friends of Jones was proud to support JCP's Chinese PCLH+ Club with a $60 grant for the Coalition of Immigrants International Night. The club recently shared this note of thanks:

Grant application deadline is May 5!
May 5, 2023, is the last day to submit a grant application to FOJ for the 2022-23 school year. After the deadline, FOJ grant-making for new grants will be closed until August 1, 2023.
Friends of Jones (FOJ) plays an integral role in building the Jones community through volunteering and fundraising. On average, FOJ, the volunteer-led non-profit supporting Jones College Prep, grants more than $250,000 annually to support students, teachers, staff, teams, clubs, and organizations.
For the 2022-23 school year, the FOJ fundraising goal is $275,000, using a mix of initiatives (including the online auction; see above), so be sure to donate and participate when and where possible! For more information about the grant process, please visit: Grant Applications - Friends of Jones.

Mamma Mia!: JCP Drama Club
performs to sold-out crowds
Congratulations to the cast and crew of Mamma Mia! The show sold out several nights and was a joyful celebration of the arts.
Because of the unprecedented nature of the past several years, this was the first sold-out show all of the students had experienced at Jones. Seniors who were freshmen in the spring of 2020 had the musical cancelled a week before opening night due to the pandemic. Because of remote learning, there was no musical in 2021.
Last year marked the triumphant return of our school musical with Anastasia, but seating was still limited.
Our students rose to meet all of these challenges with grace and resilience, so it was an absolute pleasure to watch them perform before such a large and enthusiastic audience. It was a great reminder about the crucial role the performing arts play in bringing community together and what we missed the past few years.
For the 2022-23 school year, Friends of Jones was proud to support our multi-talented students with a fundraiser and grant awards totaling (up to) $20,000. The Drama Club raised $11,000 through the January winter fundraiser.

The funds that Friends of Jones (FOJ) raises do not go directly to Jones College Prep (JCP) and are not for the direct benefit of the school. FOJ uses the funds it raises to provide grants at its sole discretion in response to a proposal from JCP students, student organizations and other JCP-related constituents to enrich the JCP attendance experience. The funds FOJ raises do not belong to JCP and are not controlled by the school.
