Brought to you by Friends of Jones
From Dr. Powers
Principal, Jones College Prep
Dear Jones Family,
Ya Sou! Hola! Ni hao! How you doin'?
These are some of the ways Jones students will greet the people they meet over Spring Break. Our Eagles are flying off to Greece, Spain, Ecuador, Peru, China and ... New York City! This is probably the greatest number of school trips our kids have taken at this time of year. In addition, many students will travel with their families to places far and wide. I am so proud of our Jones ambassadors! As an avid traveler myself (29 countries, 29 US states, and counting!), I can attest to the value of travel, especially when done with an open mind and an open heart. As my fellow Missourian, Mark Twain, famously observed, "Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry and narrow-mindedness." I hope our wandering Eagles gain new insights into the people and places they visit. We look forward to hearing their stories. Many thanks to the teachers who helped organize and prepare the kids for their adventures.
Speaking of visitors, JCP will welcome more than 500 prospective freshmen who will make up the Class of 2023. Our Freshman Welcome program will take place 6 pm Monday, April 8 (last names A-L), and 6 pm Wednesday, April 10 (last names M-Z). This is one of the most exciting events of the year, and one of the biggest Joneswear sales events as well!
With SAT on Tuesday, PSAT on Wednesday, and Parent-Teacher Conferences on Thursday, this is going to be a busy week!
With all that's going on at JCP, please remember to check our website (jonescollegeprep.org) and calendar for news and upcoming events.
As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me at any time at firstname.lastname@example.org or 773-534-8606. Follow news and views about Jones and follow me on Twitter @pjosephpowers.
