Inside: Annual Fund...Spring Benefit News...Sports Boosters...and More!

How does the JCP Orchestra get to Carnegie Hall?

With practice, practice, practice, and a grant from the FOJ Annual Fund to pay for their bus transportation! The JCP Orchestra was selected to perform at the 2022 Instrumental Festival at Carnegie Hall in NYC. This is an amazing opportunity for Jones’ students to perform in a world-famous concert hall and showcase the talents of Jones College Prep students to a national audience.

But wait, there’s more! FOJ also made a grant recently to the Jones Coalition of Immigrants Club (JCI) in partnership with other Jones affinity clubs (ALAS - Association of Latin American Students, Chinese PLCH+, the Black Coalition, Polish Club, and Asian American Club), to purchase items to sell at International Migrants Day on December 15th. Funds the students raise will be used to create a college scholarship fund for undocumented and first-generation students.

Many thanks to the support of our wonderful parents, families, and FOJ supporters for helping to make these and other opportunities possible. And FOJ will continue making grants throughout the year to Jones teachers, teams, and student clubs, just to name a few, to make your student’s experience at Jones as comprehensive and fulfilling as possible.
Anyone can make a gift to the Annual Fund, and we are grateful for every dollar donated. We are seeking 100% participation from all families at Jones. With all of your support, we can give out even more grants to our students and teachers this year!

If you would like to make a gift, please click on the link below. And be sure to check if your employer offers a matching option for your gift! Taking just a few minutes could double your donation!

FOJ is a not-for-profit organization, and all of your contributions are tax-deductible to the amount allowed by law.

How Can You Contribute?
With these options, it’s easy to make your Annual Fund gift today!
1. Donate online.
2. Contribute by cash or check. Download the FOJ Annual Fund Donation Form in EnglishEspañol, or  and mail your donation to the school.

Spring Benefit News 🌼
Hello Jones Families!
We hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving and are enjoying the holiday season.
We are excited to be planning our in-person Spring Benefit scheduled for Friday, March 11, 2022!  Additionally, our Online Auction will begin on February 25.

We need volunteers to help solicit donations. This is a great way to get involved and help our wonderful school! We appreciate any amount of time you can give.

Every year, we have been fortunate to receive incredible donations from our Jones community. We are particularly asking for any leads you might have for donation items in the following categories:
  • Alcohol (beer, wine, liquor) - whether you know someone who might want to donate and/or you would like to be a sponsor of alcohol purchases
  • Graphic Artist - we need help to design a logo and marketing materials
  • Unique Items - any donation for the Spring Benefit (i.e. vacation home, sporting event/experience, travel package, unique experiences, tours, etc.)
  • Other Donations - restaurants, fitness/gym classes, children's camps/classes, museum membership, cooking class, theater tickets, etc.
Attached here are the Donation Letter and Donation Form for you to use to solicit any donations.

Please reach out to Tracy Portnoy at or Shubhada Savant at for more information. Thank you in advance from the Spring Benefit & Online Auction Chairs,

Calling All Parents of Jones Athletes!
The Sports Booster group is looking for interested parents to discuss fundraising ideas and school spirit. One of the first items would be to explore establishing a 501(c)(3) Jones Sports Booster group.

The purpose of this 501(c)(3) Booster group would be to help streamline and organize fundraising for sports teams-giving teams, coaches and parent volunteers the flexibility to use funds for their teams as necessary without CPS restrictions and costs.  All fundraising activities would still need to follow CPS process and guidelines, including necessary approvals.  The membership would be voluntary for each team and the funds would only include those fundraised by each team, not school/CPS funding.
If you are a parent that would like to be on the board for this 501(c)(3), have experience establishing or running a non-profit organization, or are simply interested to help get the organization off the ground, please contact Sheryl Necheles and Vanda Berman (emails below).
Our plan is to have an organizational meeting in January to start forming ideas and structures for the 501(c)(3) and we are hoping to have as many stakeholders as possible from all sports teams so that we represent all interests and needs. The group would meet monthly.
Please reach out to us with interest. We will decide on the time and date of the first meeting as a group.
