How to become a CPS volunteer
CPS volunteers must be approved by the CPS Department of Volunteers. For most events, a Level II will suffice.
If you have not applied to be a volunteer for this school year, you may do so online at Volunteer Programs | Chicago Public Schools (cps.edu). After you apply, please give Jones Volunteer Coordinator, Mrs. Rayburn, a copy of your driver’s license or state ID either in person or via email at trayburn@cps.edu.
Thanks for volunteering!

Wondering about the Spring Gala?
For 2023, the Friends of Jones Board is moving away from some of our traditional events like galas and instead hosting a series of fundraising “test and learn” initiatives. Our primary goal is to help identify different ways for all families to support Friends of Jones at a level that is appropriate and meaningful to them and to fundraise at levels to be able to continue to give back to the Jones community.
On average, FOJ grants more than $250,000 each year to our community of students, faculty, staff, teams and clubs. For the 2022-2023 school year, the FOJ fundraising goal is $275,000, using a mix of initiatives (including the online auction; see above), so be sure to donate and participate when and where possible!
We appreciate your contributions to the JCP community!

FOJ Grantee Spotlight:
Jones College Prep Choir
The Jones Choir
Under the direction of Katie Colby, Jones Choir is dedicated to the idea that everyone can sing. Jones Choir performs a repertoire ranging from traditional choral music and world language pieces to pop songs and Broadway selections. There are three levels of choir courses offered during the school day at Jones, each increasing in difficulty. All students perform in a minimum of two live choral concerts, one each semester.
Friends of Jones recently supported the JCP choir with $500 in grant funding for an honorarium for three collegiate choir clinics and performances. Join the JCP choir for their next performance on April 20 at 7:00 p.m. at Jones' Robin Bennett Theater.

January Event Raises
Funds & Fun!
Thank you to everyone who participated in and contributed to our winter fundraiser for the arts! Jackie Smook put on a fabulous performance of singing, storytelling, puppeteering and jokes. Many thanks to her for helping us fundraise by making us laugh. Thanks also to Julie and Scott Tallarida for donating their event space Trigger for Jackie's cabaret. The event was a huge success and exceeded our fundraising goal of $10,000!

The funds that Friends of Jones (FOJ) raises do not go directly to Jones College Prep (JCP) and are not for the direct benefit of the school. FOJ uses the funds it raises to provide grants at its sole discretion in response to a proposal from JCP students, student organizations and other JCP-related constituents to enrich the JCP attendance experience. The funds FOJ raises do not belong to JCP and are not controlled by the school.
