Welcome to Wiser Now’s weekly email blast which reflects my eclectic interests and, I hope, yours. This week, my focus is on the outdoors because April encompasses Garden Month, Nature Month, Architectural Landscaping Month, National Park Week, and Plant Appreciation Day. Beauty galore!

Be sure to check out the Kiosk of Resources for links to some of the world’s most beautiful gardens. If you can’t visit them, you can immerse yourself visually in them.

I hope you are finding these offerings fun, and perhaps even useful, and I welcome your feedback. ( And if you haven’t yet pressed the subscribe button so this newsletter doesn’t go to spam, please do so now.

The Glorious Garden Quote

"The earth laughs in flowers." ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson
(April is also Poetry Month)

The Glorious Garden Observation

Gardens provide a multi-sensory feast – beauty for the eyes, sweet fragrances for the nose, birds singing for your ears, and gentle breezes on your skin. And if there are ripe vegetables among the plants, delights for your taste buds, too. Take them all in. Gardens also fulfill all the elements I find essential for life:

  • Beauty – obviously
  • Truth – Mother Nature suffers no fools
  • Whimsy – Have you ever seen a Laughing Bee Orchid? (See more funny flowers here.)
  • Purpose – Note all of the above, plus vegetables

The Kiosk of Resources
When you cannot personally visit them, visually immersing yourself in gardens is a great way to breathe deeply and relax. Below are links to a few of the world’s most famous gardens, including Claude Monet’s Giverny, the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, London, and the Keukenhof Gardens in Lisse, Netherlands. You can also simply Google “beautiful garden images” and fill your screen with every photo that appeals to you. Do the same with flower images or choose your favorite flower – cherry blossoms, lavender fields, etc.
