|The Quirky Facts
1) Did you know that the lub-dub sound your beating heart makes is a result of its four valve leaflets closing? They’ve got rhythm!
2) We’ve all heard about the lifestyle choices that contribute to heart health (diet, exercise, sleep, etc.) but having a good sense of humor helps, too. According to WebMd
, “A good belly laugh can send 20% more blood flowing through your entire body, . . . [because] When you laugh, the lining of your blood vessel walls relaxes and expands. . .” Ahhhhhh.
The Quirky Appropriate Quote
A sense of humor... is needed armor. Joy in one's heart and some laughter on one's lips is a sign that the person down deep has a pretty good grasp of life. ~ Hugh Sidey
The Quirky Observation
Okay, going a wee bit off topic here: When the government is throwing money around, I am always interested in coming up with ways to explain the vast difference between a million dollars and a billion. You will often hear that your heart beats about 100,000 times a day, assuming about 70 beats per minute. That means it will have beat a million times in 10 days. But it will not beat a billion
beats, until you are 27 years and approximately 3 months old. Think about it: 1 million in 10 days. 1 billion in 27 years
The Wiser Now Slide Show “Love and Marriage
” isn’t exactly focused on Valentine’s Day, but it fits February well. With nearly two dozen exercises including trivia quizzes, word games, discussion and imaginative exercises that cover (non-anatomical) gender differences, pick-up lines, retro romance, the advantages of being single, and much more, this show will warm the cockles of your heart. You can see an excerpt here
One of the Wiser Now “Love and Marriage” Slide Show

Having worked for decades now in aged care settings, I am generally sensitive to people for whom Valentine’s Day
