The Scoggin-Chang Family invites you to celebrate the life of Austin (10) and also pray for healing for the family, including Jeslyn (6) who continues to recover from her exposure to carbon monoxide. Austin’s celebration will include a healing story for children, a ritual for the family, and eulogy. There will be a reception to follow. Trauma care service dogs as well as extra chaplains will be on hand.
Please join us to discuss “the issues of the day” while respectfully welcoming different perspectives. Our topic on Oct 30 will be How Society's Best Intentions Could Be Betraying Black America; a gently recommended resource to view in advance of our discussion is available here. Join us online: go to www.zoom.us and click 'Join' OR to listen by phone, call 1-312-626-6799; when prompted, enter meeting id 927 6261 2301 and passcode 1025.
Worship: Sun Oct 30,10 am
Remembering Our Ancestors:
All Souls & Halloween
Rev. Denise & Dr. Mary
This is an All-Church Service; young people attend worship with their family and do not have religious exploration classes.
For this special celebration of our Ancestors, please plan to bring small photo(s) and/or memento(s) of departed beloveds (people or pets) to place on our shared altar - contributions from children and youth especially welcome. If you are attending online, you can submit a name here and we will read it if we get it by end of today (Friday). Our message for all ages will be A Shelter for Sadness.
Please remember to bring high-protein, non-perishable food for our offering for the mobile food pantry for Partners for Our Community (POC). This special collection will be taken up with our regular offering during worship for this special Fifth Sunday Faith in Action Day.
Please dress for Halloween this Sunday -- fun for all ages! Then immediately following worship, we will hold a costume parade for all our young people in costume -- with a special Halloween treat at parade's end! Join us to catch your share of Halloween joy.
Join us in the Sanctuary for this service, or to join the live-stream: go to https://bit.ly/CCUUworshipSvc OR to listen via phone, call 1-312-626-6799 and use meeting id 412 124 873, passcode 1025.

Co-Coordinator, Barb Braje!
We are so pleased to introduce Barb Braje -- though maybe you know and love her already! Barb has just recently retired from 20+ years of teaching 7th-grade math in Northbrook. She has been a member at Countryside since 1995! She has volunteered in the past here with the senior high and junior youth and coming of age, and has even been a coordinator for Adult Faith Development! Barb is skilled and knowledgeable and hilarious -- full of good humor and highjinks! We welcome to round out the team with Mike Penick, who stepped up as a new coordinator last year, along with advisors Steve Black and Lisa Gilley. Thank you, all -- and welcome, Barb!
