Hoppy Easter at HOPE Community
In April, JLT volunteers assisted with Big Bend Homeless Coalition's Annual Easter Festival. Members hid 1,500+ eggs, facilitated the egg hunt and outdoor games, handed out picture books, and had fun coloring with the kids. Everyone collected plenty of eggs and won lots of candy prizes.
HOPE Community provides emergency shelter to families, including 100-120 children each night. Want to become a Champion for HOPE and support Tallahassee's local family shelter? A pledge of $50 per month ($600 annually) provides a safe and temporary home to families.

A fresh coat for a fresh start

JLT volunteers are working hard at the Capital City Youth Services (CCYS) campus. Members are repainting the bedrooms so that residents can have a relaxing and calming space in which to sleep and unwind from the day. Many thanks to our CCYS Chairs Ashley Drayer and Vicki Bradley and their committee for all their hard work making CCYS a welcoming place for the youth in our community.
Since 1993, CCYS has worked with homeless, runaway, and at-risk youth to alleviate issues and strengthen families. Learn more about JLT’s partnership with CCYS here.

Place your bets on...Rich Strike!

It’s the greatest two minutes in sports! League Members enjoyed sipping Mint Juleps and Oaks Lily cocktails and watching the 2022 Kentucky Derby at the Governors Club. Many thanks to the Governors Club for selecting the Junior League of Tallahassee as the beneficiary for their annual Kentucky Derby party and inviting JLT members (and friends) to join the fun.

Sparking Joy at HOPE Community
JLT volunteers have been diligently working on moving and reorganizing the donation storage at Big Bend Homeless Coalition’s HOPE Community. Members have built a new shelving system and are currently working to label and organize donations into the new space. At the end of this project, donations will be more readily accessible for clients and staff, and staff will be able to easily see when items are low.
If you would like to donate items to Big Bend Homeless Coalition, check out their Amazon wishlist and have donations shipped directly to the campus.
