This Thursday is the Solemnity of Corpus Christi. The Opus Dei website provides material to help us prepare to celebrate the Body and Blood of Our Lord Jesus Christ.
The month of June is gradually bringing the dawn of a new day - alleluia!
Let's celebrate the blessings of normal ordinary life. St. Josemaria was called the "Saint of Ordinary Life" by Pope St. John Paul II. Go here to watch a video clip which captures the message of St. Josemaria and Opus Dei.
June is also the month of St. Josemaria's feast day - June 26. We have decided to postpone the traditional solemn Mass on that occasion to October 6, the anniversary of his canonization. By then we will be freer to enjoy each other's company.
Let me share a timely piece of history: 50 years ago this past May St. Josemaria welcomed a group of Opus Dei members from the U.S. in a get-together in Mexico. While he challenged us on many topics, he did touch a nerve: since we were just recovering from severe race riots across our country, he urged us to help heal racial division in the U.S., and he said that would mean we will have to go out of our way to befriend Afro-Americans.
