Join Us at the Summer Social

Mark your calendars for festive afternoon Saturday June 8, 1-4pm, at the Fran Mark Recreation Park on Clinton Hollow Road!

Town of Clinton (ToC) Democrats have invited Congressman Antonio Delgado, Town of Clinton Board members, Town and County candidates & incumbents to join local residents to sample delicious regional food and enjoy the sound of a live band.

Take advantage of a bucolic summer Saturday at the Park Pavilion to meet candidates and local officials and to hear about the revitalization of the Democratic Party in Clinton, which has grown about 16% in the last two years (while registered Republicans have decreased slightly).  Catch up with neighbors, make new friends, challenge elected officials with questions, or share key concerns about your community.

Your voice is important to them. They want to hear from you and to share their priorities. Use this opportunity to help decide who should earn your vote.

Please join friends and neighbors on June 8 for great fun, music, food and camaraderie!

County Legislature Update

Brennan Kearney, County Legislator for Clinton and Rhinebeck, reports that last month she voted to approve a Resolution requesting that the New York State Liquor Authority extend Liquor Store Hours in Dutchess County until 9 pm every evening (at the discretion of shop owners), which was passed. Harker House Wine & Spirits in Clinton was a strong supporter of the resolution. Kearney noted, "This is an important option for small business owners, especially in towns like Clinton and Rhinebeck. Dutchess County hours are the most restrictive in the state and our neighboring counties allow shops to be open until midnight (although most do not opt to). It will also benefit the tourism industry, and the busier parts of the county who have enough business to stay open later. The sales taxes collected help the whole county. And stores will be able to open on major holidays for more than an hour.”

Kearney and her colleagues also voted to fund Early Voting for Dutchess County. This will expand voter rights and encourage more voting in this year’s Primary and November elections! For details on how and where please click here.

A new Code of Ethics was approved after numerous amendments were made by the Democratic Caucus to improve upon the initial resolution and strengthen disclosure.

New Solar Energy Law Proposed

On May 14, 6 pm, two proposed laws will be open for public comment at the Town Board meeting. One is to expand solar energy use in Clinton. The other is to place a temporary halt (pending zoning revisions) on the creation of conference centers in Clinton. The public can also comment at the beginning and end of the regular Town Board meeting. The Town Board agenda will be posted here.
