It has now been six months since the UK first went into lockdown. Everyone in Croydon has made big sacrifices and my heart goes out to those who have faced bereavement or sickness in these past months. As the Government restrictions continue, I want to thank you each of you who have joined the volunteering efforts. The numbers in Croydon are rising again which is very concerning and there are still many vulnerable people who need our support as we approach the winter months. As we have come out of a full lockdown, these emails will be sent less regularly than they were, but I wanted to get in touch to see if you might be interested in the volunteering opportunities below.

Member of Parliament for Croydon Central
VSA is recruiting new voluntary sector representatives
Would you like to represent the voluntary sector on a strategic partnership and bring users' and community's voice in decision making discussions with key Croydon stakeholders?
Every 2 years the Croydon Voluntary Sector Alliance (CVSA), and a number of voluntary sector networks linked to it (such as the Children Young People & Families' Network), elect new representatives for a range of boards and committees within Croydon Council and other independent agencies.
Whether you are passionate about young people, maternity services or health & well being, if you are an employee or a volunteer in a local voluntary sector group or social enterprise working with the community on the ground, there might be a position for you.
It is a very rewarding role, which brings you in contact with other providers in your field, commissioners and statutory sector professionals to discuss and decide on key topics for our communities in Croydon. CVA will be able to support you through free induction sessions for people new to representation and by linking in you in the wider community sector, so that you can represent them at best.
We also support representatives in feeding back to the sector through our newsletters, website and social media.
Interested? Have a look at the opportunities and register your interest by Friday 23rd October 2020.

FOOD BANKS STILL NEED YOUR HELP!
We are changing the way we support food banks.
Our #onetin bins are already across Croydon and taking regular donations.
We still want to support food banks and get to our goal of every house donating one tin a week. But we know that doesn't suit everyone so we are looking to support them directly with £2000 in direct funding, we are matching every donation we receive for local food banks up to a total of £1000. We have selected 20 food banks across the Borough that we want to do a build buy shop for up to the value of £100.
We are looking for people to make donations from as little as £1 and we will match it and allocate the funds to a local food bank.
You can donate here https://opencollective.com/croydoncovidma/donate and add the name of the food bank you would like your donation to go to, though we may move the funds to a different food bank if your chosen one already has the £100 cap we are looking for.
Food banks still need your help and even the smallest donation is welcome.
