OMA Massage Therapist Retreat 2017

A Day of Fun, Relaxation & Community!

OMA's Annual Massage Therapist Retreat was a success!  This year's retreat was held at Sol Healing & Wellness in North Austin.  Our presenters included Diane Christopherson, OMA's Board Chair, Penny Decou, Texas Oncology Central's Social Worker and Stacey Schultz, teaching assistant for Tracy Walton as well as a Manual Lymph Drainage and Oncology Massage Therapist in Minneapolis, MN.  Along with great speakers, we also enjoyed a Singing Bowls meditation led by Sandee Conroy, The Singing Bowl Lady and an Essential Body Movement Session led by Stacey Schultz.

"Excellent resource for my non-oncology trained peers, my oncology clients, and my community. I love being able to refer folks to other S4OM providers in other areas/states. I'm proud to be part of this organization that is doing amazing things to grow our representation for oncology-trained massage therapists."- S4OM Member

OMA's Book Nook
The Cancer Whisperer
Sophie Sabbage's Cancer Whisperer is OMA's Winter Book Nook Choice.  Both a memoir and self-help book, this is the remarkable chronicle of a passage from ‘terminal’ diagnosis to exuberant wellness in just a few months. The Cancer Whisperer reverses our traditional adversarial relationships with cancer.  It teaches us how to listen to these relationships and how to be healed by them.

Inspired, wise and moving, this book is as unflinching as Lisa Lynch’s The C Word, as uplifting as Kris Carr’s Crazy, Sexy Cancer, and carries us to a new threshold in our relationship with cancer, strengthening our ability to meet it with courage, creativity, gratitude and grace.

Order The Cancer Whisperer here (Smile Amazon donates a portion of your purchase to the Oncology Massage Alliance).
Happy Holidays from OMA!
Several OMA therapists in Austin gathered for a Holiday Dinner at the Barton Creek Country Club (thanks to members: Destiny Lehew-Collins and Walt Collins) on Wednesday, December 13, 2017.  We enjoyed socializing with one another, eating delicious food and celebrating the holidays!
