Uksoils and the Soil Care Network are hosting a SoilTalks webinar next week on how to engage a wider public with the soil story.
SoilTalks #3
'Bringing Soils to Life: Getting the public excited about soils'
SoilTalks #3, a monthly online series of debates on hot soil topics organised by uksoils and the Soil Care Network will be held on the 8th June 1-2pm.
In this debate, we'll be discussing how to create a buzz around soil. How do we tell the story of soil in a way that drives greater understanding of the role and function of our soils and therefore the importance of their conservation and improvement? What aspects of soil will grab the public’s imagination, inspire creativity and encourage them to see soils in a whole new light?
This session brings together three expert environmental communicators to discuss these questions and ask what soil stakeholders can learn from other environmental campaigns about the tactics, messages, data and channels that are best suited to help us bring soils to life.
Louisa Ziane: co-founder of Toast Ale
Hannah Kapff: founder and Managing Director of Curious PR
Josh Toussaint-Strauss: journalist and producer for the Guardian
The event will be chaired by our executive co-director Matthew Orman with Anna Krzywoszynska of the Institute for Sustainable Food at the University of Sheffield as moderator.
