Message from WCSCI President - Bob Simmons
As 2017 comes to a close, it’s time to reflect on the year and to think of what is coming in the next year. It was a good year with a lot of successes, including; a Hungarian cooking dinner, Italian and Hungarian wine tasting event, fruitful summer BBQ fundraiser, and another banner year for the YAE!! program.
Be sure to visit the Ygnacio Valley Library during December and see the display that was installed there. Also, if you happen to know a 7th grader, encourage them and their parents to visit as well and attend one of two informational meetings to be held in January (applications due February 1, 2018).
In looking forward to 2018, the Board is meeting in early January and will focus on events for adults that are supporting Walnut Creek Sister Cities International. If you have ideas for activities or events, please let a board member know. We will also start the planning for a trip to Noceto and Siófok in 2019.
We just had a very enjoyable and well-attended holiday party. In addition to the wine auction, it included the sale of cookies that were made by the YAE!! students and the proceeds went directly to cover some of the costs of transportation during the week in April that the kids from Noceto and Siófok are visiting.
On behalf of the entire Board, I wish you a safe and enjoyable holiday season and a happy new year. We hope to see you at a Sister City event in 2018!
