UPDATE 18: Granville Road Area Advisory Committee
Neighbours and Community Members:
The invitation to apply for the Granville Road Area Advisory Committee, the next step in the land use planning/zoning process, has just been posted on the County's website and shown below. The Committee's designated area will be all property falling within the Annapolis River watershed area situated between the easterly boundary (Mills Mountain Road) of District 5 and the westerly boundary of Victoria Beach (the wharf).
If you live within the designated area, please consider applying for this Committee. March 21st is the deadline for applying.
The Committee will have 6 citizen members plus councillor(s) and staff. It will hold meetings to listen to all residents and property/business/farm owners for their opinions on having land use planning/zoning in our area. It will then make recommendations to the County Planning Advisory Committee who then make their own recommendations to Council.
Council makes the final decision whether to proceed with land use planning/zoning and in which parts of District 5. For example, if there's sufficient support from people in the Mills Mountain Road to the Habitation area, this historical and culturally important area could be zoned, even if all other areas are not.
We'll keep you updated when the Committee is approved and its meeting schedule is available. We should make it clear at these meetings that our goal is to work with all our neighbours so we can protect our historic landscape from large, polluting and extractive industrial uses such as the withdrawn Cooke fish factory-farm.
Please forward this on to anyone who would be interested. Thanks.
