Sadly, we have decided that even with social distancing, it is not safe to keep our doors open at this time. Starting tomorrow, Friday, March 20th, we will be allowing shoppers in, one at a time, by appointment only. These appointments can be for purchasing OR for help with projects. We can't abandon everyone and make you fend for yourselves for as long as this quarantining is expected to last!
In between customers, we will disinfect all surfaces touched.
You can call us to request an appointment (540-462-2931) or send an email request to email@example.com.
We are accepting phone orders and of course, if you wish to buy a gift certificate online, you may do so by clicking here or going to our website, housemountainyarnco.com. As a small business with a limited cash flow, it will make all the difference in the world in keeping our doors open in the future!
On a lighter note, one of our knitters posted this recently on Facebook and I thought it was share-worthy. Thanks, Bridget!
Here is a sampling of some of the new yarn that has come in in the last month or so. I will be doing a lot more posting on Facebook and Instagram featuring them and others in more detail so that you can "shop" from the comfort of your homes!
Babe Freckles - An adorable, speckled, machine washable yarn perfect for baby clothing and blankets! It's DK weight with 317 yards in a skein. We have some free patterns available with purchase too!
Snuggly Bunny - a sweet faux fur yarn perfect for the little ones. Baby sweaters and hats are soft, warm, and adorable in this machine-washable nylon yarn. Babies and toddlers will love to be cocooned in the supreme fluffiness of Snuggly Bunny!
Snuggly Replay - The softly marled shades of Snuggly Replay have the lived-in look of a favourite sweatshirt that feels like it's been worn and washed to irresistible softness. Designed especially for kids, the DK weight, cotton acrylic blend is perfect for play time. 164 yards/skein
Cairns - This worsted yarn is 60% Cotton, 40% Acrylic with approx 190 yards per 100g. This spring/summer yarn has a chainette construction and self-patterning design in some beautiful shades! Use it to make easy warm weather garments and accessories.
Home Deliveries of Yarn & More!
There are now four us who are healthy and willing to deliver yarn and supplies to your doorstep, if you need it. In fact, if you need groceries, prescriptions, need to get gas put in your car or anything else, we want to help! If there are others who want to help out, let us know.
Ellie is coordinating this service so, call her cellphone at 540-570-1339. She will match you with someone you are familiar with and arrange whatever you need.
We will also offer curbside pickup if you need something and are not comfortable with coming inside.
Remember that "The Yarn Connects Us." We will get through this together!
What's On the Needles???
Please share what you are working on with us! We all need the distraction and inspiration from others to get through this. You can send us emails and we will share them on our Facebook or Instagram accounts. You can also post them there yourselves and tag us or use the hashtag #housemountainyarn.
I'll start! I am using Perth yarn to make the Dillwyn scarf which I'm hoping will be a lightweight accessory for spring/summer to jazz up a t-shirt. On a personal note, the reason for my close lipped smile is because I bit a hard cookie and broke a FRONT tooth and my dentist can't fix it until the pandemic has passed. I strongly recommend that everyone avoid hard cookies for the duration!
