An Important Announcement from our PTAC:

Hello NES Families!

The Cougar Campaign is kicking off this week! This is NES PTAC’s biggest annual fundraiser, and the one that we ask EVERY family to support. Funds raised through the Cougar Campaign go directly back to NES to support ALL students, teachers, and staff. These donations help support our wonderful paraprofessionals, provide valuable new equipment and technologies, and fund field trips and PTAC-sponsored events. This is a crucial fundraising effort that helps NES fulfill its mission of differentiated instruction at all grade levels. Donating to the Cougar Campaign is easy and accessible! You can donate securely online via the PTAC website ( Members of the PTAC will also be available at several drop-offs during the upcoming weeks to accept in person (cash or check) donations. Look for us under the wacky waving inflatable green tube guy!

Questions? See or contact Molly
Walsh at Suggested donation levels are $250 for families with 1 child at NES and $300+ for families with 2+ children at NES. Any donation in any amount is welcomed and appreciated! Our goal is to raise $50,000 this year, with 100% of families participating. Please help us reach these goals to support our school! Thank you in advance for your donations!

Go Cougars!

With sincere thanks,
Your Niwot PTAC

Introducing Linda Whiting

I am very excited to introduce one of our new ASD paraprofessionals, Linda Whiting. Linda comes to us with 13 years of experience in education. Linda has volunteered, substituted, and has been a paraprofessional at the elementary, middle and high school levels. Linda chose the special education path because her oldest child has Dyslexia and she wanted to learn more to support him and also to support other students that struggle. In her spare time she enjoys spending time with her two grandchildren and photography. Linda is super excited to be at Niwot Elementary and she said "it has been the easiest transition to a new school that she has ever had!" She also added, "I love how everyone in the building is always willing to help out." Welcome to Niwot Elementary Linda! We are so lucky to have you on our team.

Monday, September 12th, materials and course fees will be applied for all students in Infinite Campus.  As in the past, fees will be reduced or waived for students who apply and are eligible for free or reduced lunch and students experiencing homelessness under McKinney-Vento.

iPad Insurance: Purchasing iPad insurance for your student’s device is highly recommended. The window is about to close, so please make sure to purchase insurance ASAP. If you need assistance, please contact our office.

Code of Conduct: Please make sure to take the time and review the updated Code of Conduct and complete the parent acknowledgement online.

  • Creating presentations to share with all students at Niwot Elementary.
  • Planning and advertising events such as; Mwebaza Day, Jog-a-thon, Student Art Sale and restaurant nights.

100 Mile Club begins on Monday, September 12

We would love students to join us in Niwot Elementary's 100 Mile Club this year!  100 Mile Club starts Monday, September 12, and meets every Monday, Thursday, and Friday before school from 8:20-8:50 AM.  Students run, jog, or walk on our upper grass field.  Each lap is tracked and miles are displayed on our club bulletin board in the hallway.  Students are welcome to participate in any or all of the 3 days each week.  Our club meets throughout the year until the end of April.

This is a great before school activity that gets students exercising with their friends, and motivates them to set mileage goals throughout the year!

If interested, please fill out the online registration form that includes a $20 one time fee and a Return to Activities Release Form.

Dear Niwot Feeder School Parents,

On Tuesday, September 27th from 6:00-7:30pm, the College Funding Coach will offer a free web workshop.  There is no cost (except your time) to attend.
As you can imagine, the stock market has gone up and gone down.  Taxes have gone up and gone down.  Unemployment has increased and then decreased.  But two things have remained constant every year: approximately 20 million high school students head off to college, and since 2000, the cost of tuition and fees at American colleges has more than tripled the rate of inflation.
Whether you have a preschool student or a senior in high school, you will learn valuable information that is timely for you. I have seen the workshop and am excited to participate.
I've attached a flyer about The College Funding Coach event. Register by clicking on the following link: College Funding Coach Registration
While the event is free of charge, registration is appreciated.

Gifted and Talented Referrals

Each year, schools in St. Vrain Valley School District complete a process to identify students who demonstrate exceptional ability or performance in one or more academic areas and may, therefore, qualify for Gifted/Talented educational services. These students usually perform at least two years above grade level in their strength area(s), and they require additional academic challenges in order to support their continued educational growth and progress.  In addition, they usually demonstrate characteristics of unique creativity and high motivation in their strength areas.

Referrals are open through the month of September and will close on the last day of the month. Referrals after that date will be addressed on a case by case basis. Completing a referral guarantees a review of the student profile to determine if testing is recommended for the student. The process for identification requires a body of evidence and often takes place throughout the school year.

The process takes approximately 5-10 minutes to complete.

For questions, please contact Audrey Lenger,
