Parents & Guardians,

I was very proud of our students this past week as they navigated through the new mask policy. There was so much respect and understanding for each other, no matter if students were wearing masks or not wearing masks. Again, we recognize that everyone is in a different place with this and we will continue to respect all decisions.

We are excited to have Mwebaza Day on Tuesday, March 1. Mwebaza Day is an annual cross-cultural event celebrating the long-lasting friendship between Niwot Elementary and Mwebaza Primary School in Uganda. Throughout the day students will engage in activities, collaboration, discussion and fun! We will be Webex(ing) with our friends in Uganda and celebrating each others culture with music and conversation. It will be a special day and a big thank you to Mr. Peterson, Mrs. Hansen and the Mwebaza Club for making it all happen.

A reminder that we have a Dining for Dollars event coming up on Tuesday, March 1 at Noodles and Company. See the information below and thank you for supporting Niwot Elementary!

Finally, our amazing Student Council is sponsoring another "Give Back" event. Every year, student council chooses a charity and/or fundraiser and this year they are partnering with The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. All funds stay here in Colorado and go to the Rocky Mountain Chapter of LLS to help researchers and scientists find the cure for childhood cancer.

Please let me know what you need and how I can support you.

Have a great weekend and be safe.

Sincerely,

Nancy Pitz
Principal

We are very excited to celebrate Mwebaza Day on Tuesday, March 1.  If you don't know what Mwebaza Day is, it is an annual, cross-cultural event celebrating the long-lasting friendship between Niwot Elementary and Mwebaza Primary School in Uganda.  Unfortunately, due to COVID restrictions, we have had to cancel Mwebaza Day for the last two years.  But since our last Mwebaza Day, technology has really improved in Uganda. Even though restrictions still keep us from all assembling in the gym for a video call between the schools as we have done in the past, all Niwot and Mwebaza classrooms will join the same WebEx call on the morning of March 1.  Throughout the day all students will engage in activities, collaboration, discussion and fun! It will be a special day and a big thank you to Mr. Peterson and Mrs. Hansen for making it all happen.
It was an outstanding evening on Wednesday, February 23, sharing all of the wonderful things happening throughout the Niwot Feeder (Niwot High School, Sunset Middle School, Burlington Elementary, Indian Peaks Elementary, Niwot Elementary) with the SVVSD School Board. A special thank you to 5th grader, Reese Macchia, for representing Niwot Elementary. She did such a great job sharing about our school and her journey here from preschool to 5th grade. I am very proud of Reese and to be part of this great feeder!
