Keep Our Children Out of Jails

Jail is not the place for children, especially non-violent children. Police officers in schools only feed the school to prison pipeline. It is dangerous and harmful to all of us in society. 

It's in the numbers

This comparison chart shows the disparity between schools that have school resource officers and schools that do not. If police improved safety, we believe such would be quantifiable by less criminal activity within the schools. However, as the chart indicates, the opposite is true. 
We believe that the resources used to fund student resource officers could instead be used to place in more social workers into the schools. Since police do not make schools safer, a better use of resources would truly be preventative measures rather than reactionary measures.

Schools of color are overpoliced!

Due to negative stereotypes on people of color, schools of color are severely overpoliced. As a result, children of color are targeted for the prison pipeline and creating a continuum of oppression.
