Spring 2020 Performing Arts Residency

The Arts Program is proud to feature Beck+Col as its Spring 2020 Performing Arts Residency Group.

Beck+Col are a Los Angeles based artist duo whose work has been exhibited worldwide. Through costume-based performance, Beck+Col’s work explores alternate universes populated with monsters. The Lumpen Monsters are colorful, playful and operatic. For the duration of their residency, lumpy, musical monsters from an alternate universe will descend upon SAN. Only able to communicate through exaggerated gestures and operatic vocalizations, the monsters will interact with travelers passing through the airport, engaging them in an aural and visual spectacle. Beck+Col's performance art is a multidisciplinary experience; combining wearable sculpture, performance, dance, music and live operatic vocalizations.

SAN’s Arts Program launched its Performing Arts Residency Program in 2016. The residency provides a platform for the development and performance of new work over the course of five months that simultaneously enriches the airport experience for customers and cultivates the regional performing arts community.

Open Submissions for Performing Artists

The Arts Program is now accepting submissions from performers for our ongoing concert series. Performers of any discipline (music, dance, theater, etc.) are invited to apply.

The purpose of this program is to celebrate the local culture and talent of San Diego County and the region, to enhance the airport customer experience, to provide moments of cultural richness and mitigate moments of stress, and to ensure the airport environment is continually fresh, exciting, and inviting.

The SAN Arts Program activates a variety of performance locations throughout the airport campus no less than four days a week.
