Message from the President
Dear Friends

As we approach Christmas I along with our hard working Board members take this opportunity to thank you all for choosing SHARE to be part of your healthy lifestyle. We are a volunteer board and our purpose is to give back to the community and one of the best ways we can do this is by providing a platform for the community to come together to learn, make friends and stay healthy – as it is said “prevention is better than cure”. An investment in your lifestyle is securing heathy body and mind as we continue to grow in age.

Can I begin by thanking our amazing Instructors I cannot name them all as we have too many! Without their commitment and dedication to SHARE and to our participants we could not provide the service to the community we do so THANK YOU!

Huge thank you to all the volunteers  who assist us in the office and in various programs be it in the pool or land base classes – we always need more, do contact us if you have hours to spare.

We are delighted to partner with universities and as part of this internship program students do the practical aspect of their course with SHARE, they bring with them their bright minds, new ways of doing things and a big smile. We are very grateful to the universities for this program and indeed the students who learn and help and teach us with our many initiatives.

Our head office is always busy apart from day to day operations, strategic, governance or events we have many reporting requirements from board to funding bodies, partners and indeed our participants - these all take enormous time and effort, which our office do with great efficiency, pride and commitment – to this end my heartfelt thanks to Adrian Prakash our GM and Saba Imran.

NSW Government is an integral part of our organisation, we would never be able to sustain the programs without the part funding from South Eastern Local District and Sydney Local Health District (SLHD). I would like to personally thank Dr Teresa Anderson AM, CE of SLHD, Lyn Berlin and Karen Bedford from SLHD for their support, collaboration and inclusiveness.  My most grateful thanks to Mrs Myna Hua and Katarzyna Bochynska from SELHD Health Promotion Service for their input, support, opportunities to enhance health outcomes and partnerships. I think SHARE is truly privileged to work alongside the two health districts in addressing healthy living for all of us. It is our desire that in the future SHARE will be able to work with other health districts to deliver programs in areas like the greater Western Sydney and North.

I also convey my personal THANKS to The Hon Minister Brad Hazzard MP and Mr Mark Coure MP Member for Oatley, Assistance Speaker for their commitment to the people of NSW, their assurance, dedication and foresight to plan, deliver and also to work with organisations like SHARE has contributed enormously to our society as a whole. Thank you to both for their unwavering support of SHARE and for recognising that our programs make a difference to many from reduction of social isolation, inclusiveness of many community groups from various backgrounds, to robust programs with the delivery of real health outcomes.

Last but not least to SHARE board - we are lean and focused to deliver. Thank you to our treasurer Mr Todd Dewey who ensures are accounts are in order, we meet budget and have long term financial sustainability. Apart from his ability to manage our finances Todd has been a tower of strength both personally to me, the staff, volunteers and SHARE as a whole.

Well folks as they say until next year – let’s do it all again in 2020.

From my family to yours I wish you a Blessed Christmas as we celebrate the greatest gift of the true meaning of Christmas. May you and your loved ones share the many joys of Christmas and your New Year be Bright, Prosperous and HEALTHY!

Warmest Regards
Barbara
