Welcome to The Highland Bookshop Newsletter

Please forward on to your friends!

It's February and you know what that means?
It's Fort William Mountain Festival time!
We are celebrating with late-opening this Wednesday for the launch party plus we have two very special events planned. As always, our pop-up shop will be open Thursday through to Sunday at the Nevis Centre, so look out for us there!

And now for the books...

Despite the recent deluge we've had a plenty of tantalizing new 2020 titles coming through the door. Whether you are into fiction or non-fiction or both we have something new for you.
We're planning a lot this year (our third birthday isn't far away!) so read on for all our news and hopefully we will see you soon.

Kelsey's Book Reviews

Did you know Kelsey writes a review every month for our website?

This month's title is
There, There

by Tommy Orange.

"Set in the city of Oakland, California, in something of a now-ish time, There, There follows a full cast of characters, all Native American to one degree or another, whose stories are connected by bonds they do not understand."

Young Person's Book Review Panel
Hey Kids!

Do you like reading?
Do you like reading and writing?
Do you like reading and writing and FREE BOOKS?!?

We are forming a Young Person's Book Review Panel where we will send you free books in exchange for short reviews. We will then share them in the shop and on our website so other kids know what books to buy (or not to buy!)

Are you aged 7 to 12 and want to be a panelist? All you have to do is send us a 100 word review of your favourite book to manager@highlandbookshop.com by the 10th of March to be in with a chance of joining up!

World Book Day!
The aim of World Book Day organizers is to get children reading by providing them with the opportunity to have a book of their own! Those same organizers, in partnership with National Book Tokens Ltd, send millions of children and schools packs of World Book Day Tokens that they can swap for one of 12 World Book Day titles by top authors.

One of our favourite new projects of 2019 was delivering over 400 World Book Day books to schools in the Western Isles and along the west coast of Scotland, schools which had previously found it tricky to participate in WBD due to their remoteness.

This year we are reaching out to even more schools and hope to deliver more than 1000!
