News from the Board of Trustees

The Board met and discussed the opinions and suggestions that you all offered over the past few weeks, and we have decided that now is the time to start working on the re-opening of the church.  We are calling for volunteers to form a Task Force for re-opening whose first task will be to find a new venue for our Sunday morning services.  The Board has laid out the criteria for a suitable venue, with details about where, when, and what things are necessary -- oh, and we have a budget, too!  We have set a goal to begin offering church services live by September 1st, a date that Brenda Ford is hearing most often from public health officials as a prospective date for safe indoor social gatherings.

Please contact any of our board members if you want to be on this Task Force or just click this link to submit your information.  We will be happy to facilitate this project.

For those of you who prefer or really need to have ZOOM Sunday services, Cathy Schwanke, our technology guru, is already working out how to combine an in-person and a live-streamed service for us.  Thanks, Cathy!

Upon the advice of Brenda Ford, the board has decided that the open church will follow the guidance provided by the CDC for social distancing and masking, and a team will provide specific protocols for how to meet these guidelines in our new venue when it has been found.  We welcome volunteers here as well to develop our safety protocols. You can volunteer here.

In the meantime, we encourage you to form "watch parties", small groups that meet in someone's home to share the Sunday zoom services.  If you would like to host watch parties, please feel free to contact any of the board members to discuss this or let us know here.  And please keep your groups small and use safety precautions!

So many of you reported how much you miss going out to lunch together after church services.  We encourage you to use the chat box at the end of our church services in order to organize such an outing.  So many restaurants are now open and the weather is great for outdoor eating as well right now.  It really sounds like a fun thing to do, at last!

Thank you for your support and prayers.
