CAMINO TAPAS DINNER
Friday 5 April 2019 @ 7.00pm

Due to unforeseen circumstances, please note the change of date for our first dinner event will now be held on Friday 5 April 2019.   All the other details remain the same.  This is BRING A PLATE OF TAPAS STYLE FOOD TO SHARE  at Blackheath-Mt Victoria RSL Sub-Branch, 2 Bundarra Street, Blackheath  commencing at 7.00pm.

The speaker is Ray McCreadie who did his first Camino in Sept/Oct 2018 with Tony Jacques.  Ray will talk on "How a Newbie becomes a Seasoned Peregrino - Blackheath to Spain and Back".   There maybe some visuals shown on the night.

Seating is limited to around 50 so reserve your seat/s now!   Email here to book your place.  If you booked and find you are unable to attend, could you please let Tony know at   tony.jacques1@gmail.com   in case there are people on the 'waitlist'.

Julie in Ce's absence will be baking the Santiago tart for you to enjoy!

NOTE:  the suggested bring a plate of food to share is Tapas style but any 'finger food' (it could be sweets or fruit platter)  so long as it doesn't need heating!
Saturday Walk at 9.00am on 30 March
and 27 April 2019

Even though the date of the March Camino dinner has changed, the morning walk will still go ahead as previously advertised.  The route for the March walk will be a surprise and left in the capable hands of Chris to plan.  Meet up at Glenella Guesthouse, 56 Govetts Leap Rd, Blackheath at 8.50am for 9am departure.

Also getting in early for you to save the date for the 27 April walk.  David from the Central Coast Camino group is coming up with a few of their members for the weekend to do some walks/hikes in the Blue Mountains.

As always, please BYO water, snacks, money for refreshments, sunscreen, hat, rain gear (if forecast-its a great way to check if your particular set of rain gear works!), first aid bits & pieces and sturdy shoes.  Bring your Opal card in case of opportunity to catch the train back to Blackheath if you don't think you can do the return trip (depending on route).

It would be great if you could let us know if you're coming by clicking the link here.   You will be back at Glenella in time for the  usual Camino Meetup at 2.00pm.  Grab some lunch and you are welcome to eat it at Glenella.    Hope to see you there!
CAMINO MEETUP: Saturday 30 March and 27 April
2.00 - 4.00pm at Glenella

Camino Meetups are held the 4th Saturday of most months*  from 2.00-4.00pm at Glenella Guesthouse, 56 Govetts Leap Rd, Blackheath.  The next Camino Meetup will be on Saturday 30 March at 2.00pm.

This is also advance notice for the Camino Meeting for 27 April 2019 when David from the Central Coast Camino group is coming up with a few of their members to do some hikes in the Blue Mountains for the weekend.  This is a great opportunity to meet more pilgrims from around NSW, shared stories and experiences.

These have proved to be an
informative afternoon, a chance to share all things Camino including your stories and experiences, for others to learn about the Camino.   Enjoy the camaraderie.  Check out the Camino Corner at Glenella.   Planning to go on your Camino during 2019?  Write your name up On The Way board.

At the March Camino Meetup, 28 pilgrims and prospective pilgrims came to Glenella. A fantastic effort and we hope you found the forum very useful.  We learnt several people we intending to do their Camino in 2019.  Missing from the On The Way board is Margaret who is walking from Milan to Rome in May.

We heard from Wayne by email who was doing a tour of all the major biblical sites plus the Golan Heights and the West Bank through both Israeli and Palestinian held zones.  Quite a remarkable trip!  Wayne says it may be the ultimate Camino.  He stumbled across a route from Egypt to Mesopotamia (Iraqi, Syria, etc) which passes along the shores of Dead Sea and Sea of Galilee and passes through Bethlehem and Nazareth.  The tour bus actually parked on the rout in Calpurnia.  There is was on a sign!  The route is known as the Via Maria which means Way of the Sea.

We hope to hear more about this fascinating journey Wayne undertook at a Camino dinner or Camino Meetup when he returns.
