Poor air quality becomes a particular concern during the winter months when normal atmospheric conditions (cool air above, warm air below) become inverted. Inversions trap a dense layer of cold air under a layer of warm air, acting as a lid and trapping pollutants in the cold air near the valley floor. Nearly 50% of the pollutants trapped during the inversions are caused by transportation emissions. So by simply reducing vehicle trips, we can protect our health, our environment, and our quality of life.

No Classes February 15, 2021, for President's Day
No Classes March 8, through March 12, 2021, for Spring Break

Happy New Year and welcome to the Zoology Department!
As we begin Spring 2021 semester, the Zoology Department hopes that you and your loved ones are staying healthy, and doing well. We continue to offer a diversity of classes despite the pandemic and strive to provide quality instruction as always!
I would like to call your attention to a special departmental seminar. Next Friday (2/5 at 12:30) four faculty will each be presenting a five-slide research seminar. The catch is that they’ll be presenting the slides of a colleague sight unseen! Come meet the zoology faculty and learn something (along with the presenters)!

Be well and stay safe!
Dr. Ron A. Meyers,
Zoology Department Chair
