Dear CIS Friend,

Our newsletter this month is full of all treats, and no tricks! We've got lots of great program and partnership highlights, and ways to deepen your connection to our mission. Plus, make sure your calendars are marked for the 2nd annual CIS EXPRESS!

Happy Autumn!

Ashley Hall, Executive Director
WESTCHESTER WRAP

We had such an amazing night at the Westchester Commons Concert on Saturday, September 25! The weather was absolutely perfect, folks were out and having fun, and we had a blast with our board members, staff, and volunteers serving beverages and dancing to the music!

The results were also amazing!

  • 1,800 guests (apprx)
  • $6,590 sold in drink tickets
  • $3,923 raised for CIS of Chesterfield and the 10,000 students we serve!
We also had great feedback from the Westchester Commons event organizers, who told us, "Thanks again for a great group of volunteers! You all did an outstanding job, and I would certainly welcome you all back for 2022!" We will definitely plan to be back next year!

Thank you to the amazing volunteers that joined us and to all the concert-goers who came out to enjoy the show in support of our mission! We rely on the community to make our mission possible and you are a huge part of that!

BIRDIES FOR CHARITY

We are a proud partner of the PGA TOUR Birdies for Charity Program! As a participating organization, we are among nonprofits to choose from when you make a contribution through the TowneBank sponsored program. The best part is that it gives CIS of Chesterfield the opportunity to receive a 10% bonus on charitable contributions. Please consider making a gift to CIS of Chesterfield through Birdies for Charity to leverage your gift!
PARTNER SPOTLIGHT - NO CHILD THIRSTY

Our schools are working hard to keep students and staff healthy while they are in the buildings. That means that water fountains are off limits! Instead, each school has installed a water bottle filler so students can fill up a reusable bottle to sip on throughout the school day. When Carlos Marti, our Site Coordinator at Falling Creek Middle, reached out to a local StateFarm agency about their need for reusable bottles, the response was quick and incredible!

We are blown away by Micah Waldron  and his State Farm Insurance agency team, who ended updonating 1,500 reusable water bottles to the students at Falling Creek Middle School! As the schools continue to practice these COVID-safe measures, having water bottles is a huge deal. Thank you to Micah and his team for this awesome contribution!

If you have a source of new reusable water bottles to donate, reach out to Wendy at wendy_lively@ccpsnet.net.

WHY ATTENDANCE MATTERS CONTINUED

Just because Attendance Awareness Month is coming to an end, doesn't mean our work to improve attendance does! As our Site Coordinators work with their students and schools, we know that our parents and guardians are doing the work too! This article shares some great tips to promote good school attendance from home.
