Volunteer recruitment drive now on!
The role of a Crisis Response Volunteer brings many opportunities and benefits, as expressed by some of our valued volunteers – Tara Stewart, Sheila Whitmell-MacDonald and Alex Brancatella – in our recent media release to recruit volunteers. Sharing Your Stories
As part of our 20th Anniversary activities, we have been sharing stories of "Caring Response and Victim Support." Visit our website to view these stories, including one from our founding Executive Director, Pat Hehn, as she reminisces about the first volunteer graduates!

Thank you!
We are continually amazed at the generosity and dedication by our volunteers and partners. Over the past few months, many of you have been involved in helping us share stories and commemorate our 20th Anniversary. Thank you to those who assisted with our videos: Pat Hehn, Brian Adams, Sheila Whitmell-MacDonald, Kylie McGrail, Dana Boldt, Lynn Fisher (Couchiching Jubilee House), Celeste Anderson, Mandy Davison, and Carla Dermott (OPP); and to members of our 20th Anniversary Planning Committee, Linda Davis and Peggy Onlock.

NEW! 120 x 20 Crisis Response Kit FUNDRAISER
|
|
|
"I can't imagine going on a call without my kit."
Our volunteers know how much a few items such as blankets, meal vouchers and other emergency supplies can mean in a stressful and traumatic situation. Often our clients don't have anything in the midst of a crisis situation. As well as the practical contents, the kit contains a binder of organized and useful resources, allowing our volunteers to spend time giving people the support they need, rather than looking up how to find a taxi, hotel and other services.
As part of our 20th Anniversary, we are launching a fundraising campaign to purchase 20 new kits at a cost of $120 each. Anyone interested in helping us provide these essential kits can visit our website – thank you!

Staff Update – Meet Tara!

We are pleased to introduce our new placement student, Tara Stewart, who is in her final year of the Honours Bachelor of Social Work program at Lakehead University. Tara has been a member of our Crisis Response volunteer team for the past two years and is currently a team leader. As a placement student, Tara will be helping with all aspects of NSVS day-to-day activities, especially volunteer training and updating our resources. Originally from Owen Sound, Tara is looking forward to learning more about the Orillia area and its many community resources. Welcome Tara!
