CFS Website Tip of the Week

My CFS Page

We have created a section of the new website that is made to make your lives as CFS Students and Parents easier!  This section was made to have most anything CFS parents call and ask the school about on a fairly regular basis.  Today, we are going to talk about the Calendar.

The calendar tool allows you to see EVERYTHING going on at CFS, or ONLY the things your family wants to see.  For instance, if you have a 2nd grader and a 5th grader, you will only want to see the things that involve them.  So you would pull up the calendar page, and on the top left of the calendar, you see a feature that says Categories.  Click the down arrow and choose the first box labeled Clear/Show All.  This is a toggle that allows you to go from showing everything to choosing only the categories you want to see.  So you might only select Academic Calendar (showing all the school early outs and holidays), Activity (showing special events in classrooms), Assembly, (showing any all school assemblies like grandparents day, veterans day, etc.) and Elementary Event (showing only events that are for PK-5th) and Field Trips.

Once you have only the events you want to see, you can choose to view them in a list view instead of the calendar view.  This view gives you the details for each event that are only visible on the calendar if you click on the event.  This can be done by choosing the 3 lines next to the cubes in the upper right of the calendar display.  Once you have your events in list view, you can choose to print. Just select the picture of the printer in the upper right.

If you click on the icon of the calendar in the upper right, you can choose to download the school's events into your personal iCalendar, Google Calendar or Outlook.  This will save you the hassle of inputting every event in your personal calendar!

Finally, for the really tech savvy, we have an RSS feed that can be used in conjunction with apps on your computer or phones to send you updates every time something new is added.

THIS WEEK'S MEME OF THE WEEK:

GALA 2018 - THE BASICS YOU NEED TO KNOW!
CFS Southern Knights Gala held on March 10th at Stephens College Ballroom, is our school's largest fundraiser besides the Annual Fund, but more importantly, it is a ton of FUN!  Each year the Gala Committee selects a different theme and we plan the entire evening around it.  Southern Knights was selected because we felt our galas represent good ole' Southern Hospitality with a Knights twist.

But What Do I Wear?
Our families want to make everyone comfortable, so they like to allow people to come as they are, but they also challenge you to be creative with what you wear!  So think of Charleston, Savannah, or Louisville as your inspiration when planning your outfit.  Simple, elegant, with some classy bling added - like that little black dress and maybe some pearls or rhinestones or a fancy hat and gloves can round out your attire.  Some guys like to borrow the Texas Tuxedo look and wear jeans and a tuxedo or suit jacket.  Or, you can just go for casual comfort like a good pair of jeans and some boots.  You will see a little bit of everything!

Who Comes to This Thing?
Over half of the crowd will be people you don't know.  That's the purpose of the event, really.  We want others in town to know about CFS and why we love our school.  We want them to understand why so many families have chosen CFS for their children.  We also want to get others outside of the school to support us financially with their donations and purchases at the gala.  BUT, it is also important existing parents show up to support the school's efforts and show the community our families are hardworking, fun loving, devoted parents!

How Much Will This Cost Me?
The only expense is your ticket.  We are currently selling them at our cost of $50/ticket or $500/table.  But those prices will go up in February.  If you decide to purchase something at the auction or make a donation to a specific cause while you are there, that is totally up to you.

How Can I Make Sure I Get to Sit with My Friends?
Table reservation forms are available in the office.  We ask you have at least 3 couples committed to attending prior to turning in a form.  (Tables seat 10, so if we are sold out, you will be sitting with others if you don't fill all the seats.) Each couple can turn in their payment with the form, or later as long as their name is on the form.

Stay tuned for next week's installment on the gala happenings!
NEWS FROM THE HIGH SCHOOL:
Please plan on attending our Blood Drive on Feb 2nd!
Our Student Council has planned a blood drive on Friday, February 2nd from 3:30 to 8:30 pm.  We also have home basketball games that night.  The theme for the game is Red Out, and they encourage everyone who can, to donate blood at the bloodmobile that night and come cheer on the Knights.   You can register for a time slot at www.redcrossblood.org and enter ChristianFellowMO to schedule an appointment.
