LINES, STRIPES, FOLDS, AND PLEATS EVERYWHERE!

When I work in clay it feels like I am drawing in three dimensions. When I design something, I make line drawings to establish the sort of direction I would like to investigate. I then make the piece with coils –or strips of clay- from the bottom up. When the shape is completed I focus on the surface. More often than not lines or stripes are involved, whatever direction I choose to go into. I draw, paint or incise every line individually and deliberately. I am still astounded at the unique qualities that emerge with each piece, even after 20 years of this sort of mark-making on my work.

Please save the date! Open studio and show of recent work 28-30 September. I will release an online catalogue with my September newsletter.

EAT YOUR WORDS

The Book Club Cookbook, Eat Your Words is now available in all the best bookshops across South Africa or to order from Takealot. I have received great feedback from people who have cooked from it and I really love that it is being actively used.
