A bunch of tales I wanted to share with you

A tale I read

Poem 1535 by Tim Key

A tale I heard

Poet Salena Godden on writing a book:

"I don’t know why there’s this staid and quite starchy cupcake attitude around books, because to write a book is rock ’n’ roll, it's hard work. And I don’t understand why everyone tries to act as if it’s some cheesy kind of quilty, blankety, cosy thing; a warm glass of white wine in a plastic cup. It’s not, it’s a fucking really wicked martini!"

A tale I saw

Why Yellow by Hackney Colliery Band (Featuring Rob Auton)

A tale I wrote

High-income heels
and polished loafers
across top council tax pavements.
Weekend client calls screamed
under Centre Court umbrellas,
briefcase play never interrupted.
A linguine-haired Best In Show
warmed its paws
on Range Rover heating
and our pastry swam
in roadside puddles
like happy tears on cheeks
as we ate Greggs in the rain.
