A bunch of tales I wanted to share with you

A tale I heard

Big Little Lies casting director, David Rubin, on getting Meryl Streep to appear in Series 2:

"The development of the second season was prompted by the novelist, Liane Moriarty, who had an idea for furthering the story and wrote a novella that encompassed the second season story she proposed we tell. In the novella she named the character of Perry’s mother Mary Louise — and Mary Louise is Meryl Streep’s given name. Though I believe we all would have said Meryl Streep upon reading the novella, I think Liane Moriarty was the first person to plant that seed."

A tale I wrote

The ancient oak tree
clutched on to its
final autumn leaf
and cried:
don't leave me!

You know I have no choice,
coughed the leaf
with its penultimate breath.

But who will talk to me,
said the tree,
now there's no one left?

For Christ's sake
it's not all about you,

yelled the leaf.
I've just watched
my entire family die!

And off he jumped
without saying goodbye.
