A tale I heard

Actor Meryl Streep on how different the Golden Globes were in the 1970s:

"It was very different. The Golden Globes was a little afternoon event, that was held at lunchtime and it was on closed circuit television for the Los Angeles area – Los Angeles county only. I remember Jack Nicholson was there, really drunk at 1:15 in the afternoon and it was great, it would just go forever.

But I was there after Kramer vs. Kramer, after giving birth to my first child and, in those days, I didn’t have, you know, they didn’t lend you dresses, so you had to buy something, and I didn’t have any money. So, I wore my wedding dress, as you would! It was a perfectly nice, white silk dress. But the luncheon went on, and I was breast feeding and 2 o’clock came, 3 o’clock came, 4 o’clock came, and PPPPSSSSHHHH… yeah, all in a white dress. White, silk dress. So, I sat like this [with my arms folded over my chest] and then they called my name – I won – and I walked up keeping my arms crossed! I took the award with my arms crossed and said ‘thank you very much’ and left and everyone thought I was so odd. It was so embarrassing… but only to LA county."

A tale I wrote

WHAT IT FEELS LIKE TO HAVE DEPRESSION WHEN YOU'RE THE HAPPIEST YOU'VE EVER BEEN

My glass is half full, of emptiness
I'm on cloud 8.9
I'm smiling like a Cheshire bat
I'm as happy as a clammy palm
I'm over-the-moonpig dot com
I'm an optimisty morning
I'm a happy camper van
I'm on top of the world of warcraft
I'm in Seventh Haven Holiday Homes
I'm having a killer wale of a time
I'm walking on an airbed
I'm grinning from beer to beer
I'm as happy as Larry David
I'm as happy as a shit in a pig
