A bunch of tales I wanted to share with you

A tale I read

The Waiting Room Was Purple by Maria Ferguson

A tale I heard

Actor and writer Daisy Haggard on life advice:

“Don’t destroy yourself. There’s a perception that to be successful or create something, you have to sacrifice any work/life balance. I don’t believe that. On 'Back to Life' and 'Breeders', we insist on family-friendly hours and aim for everyone to have a lovely time. Then you get the best out of people and do great work in another way.

And don’t be a crisp snob. Don’t be afraid to go for Wotsits. Things that would make good firelighters will probably be delicious. I learned that once when I threw some old Pringles on the fire and they went up in flames.”

A tale I saw

Today It Was Christmas by John Hegley

A tale I wrote

Come on then,
let's go for a walk.
Let's head to the park with the wet bench
and the tree like an old-man's finger.
Let's get bored punching puddles
with our feet and head to the cafe
where people will see you
and say things like Oh, you're lovely
and tut when you scream
as a digger is towed past the window
and shake their heads as you try
to learn how to push a door
400 times bigger than your fists.
Come on then,
let's go for a walk.
Let's go anywhere that helps me
forget the feeling that creeps
up my calves for no reason
from time to time inviting me
to head in the wrong direction.
