Welcome back after what I pray was a beautiful and blessed Christmas break!  Classes resume Sunday, January 14th  and will continue each week until mid-winter break (February 18th).

Do you know of any St. Christopher parishioners who are unable to attend Mass regularly? Maybe they are home-bound, in  the Armed Forces, or away at school.  If so, please drop off a photograph of them to the office (c/o  Kristi Socha),  and they will be included on a special bulletin board located in the Religious Education hallway.  Although these parishioners are not able to join us physically at Mass they are still very much a part of our church family.  Since we can't see their faces on a regular basis these pictures can help serve as a reminder to pray for them.  Any questions please contact me at 364-4100 Ext. 202
Our homebound parishioners are often people of great faith who fill their quiet time with prayer, yet they can feel isolated from our church family. On the other hand, our students often spend their days rushing between church, school and activities and can easily be distracted from praying ....especially for others. Thus, a new program to help connect our students to our homebound while strengthening our prayer life was born!  Each classroom has been connected to one of our homebound parishioners.  A class photo and a photo of the parishioner are being exchanged that will serve as a reminder to pray for each other.  Also, each classroom may take small opportunities, such as making cards or sending notes, to remind these parishioners that they are still important to us.  The hope is that our students will learn more about the power of praying for others and that our homebound parishioners will feel loved and valued by us.  That's a win-win situation! Please feel free to include your children's homebound parishioners in your family prayers also.
The sessions are interactive with real-life applications to help both teens and parents grow closer to Jesus and to each other while deepening their Catholic identity.  We have had overwhelmingly positive feedback from the families who have prepared for this sacrament!  I'm so excited to walk along with you through this next part of your faith journey.
May God bless our teens who will be confirmed on Sunday, January 14th at the 11 am mass.  It has been so rewarding to watch these young people deepen their faith while learning to take ownership of their own faith.  I can't wait to see how God will use each of them for his glory as they become "adults" in the eyes of the Church!  God bless you all!

First Communion News
For those of you who have children preparing for their First Communion our first meeting will be on Thursday, February 22 at 6:30-7:30  pm in Room 1.  This meeting is for parents only.  A reminder for those children (and their families)  who have not yet received the Sacrament of Reconciliation that Reconciliation time at St. Christopher is Saturdays at 3:30.  Please call Fr. James to tell him which day you will be coming so that he can adjust the time as needed.  Often he will have those experiencing the sacrament for the first time come a little earlier so he can move slowly with them.  Also, a reminder to please bring a copy of your child's baptismal record (if not baptized here at St. Christopher) and a current photo of your child
Hard to believe that Lent will begin before we know it! I urge you to begin this special time of reflection by attending one of our Ash Wednesday Masses.  They are on Wednesday, February 14th at either 6 am or 7 pm.  We all want our children to grow closer to both Jesus and his Church so please show your children the importance of participating in this holy season.  The more we can link our faith and parish life to our everyday life the more likely our children (and us!) will continue to grow as Christians.  A great resource to use during Lent is a  free program called The Best Lent Ever.  It's as easy as signing up by email using this link:
You'll receive a short video clip each day of Lent to help keep you on track.  I've participated for a few years, and I love it!
Thank You From Me to You
I want to thank you for letting me walk along with you and your family on your faith journey.  I love this ministry and am happy each time I come to the office, facilitate a meeting,  or interact with the students, catechists, and parents.  Your faith helps my faith deepen.  If I can help you in any way or you just want to talk please drop by my office anytime or call me at 364-4100 Ext. 202.
May God bless you as we begin 2018 together and may he help each of us slow down enough to savor the beauty in the ordinary moments,
