Upcoming Elections!

Hi all,

We have an election for the board of directors coming up during our October 1st general meeting. A nominating committee, made up of volunteers appointed by the board, have nominated the following candidates:
Regional Executive: Kent Hamilton
Assistant Regional Executive: Chad Barnes
Treasurer: Ken Martens
Secretary: Paul Anderson
Trustees:
Kevin Cose
VJ Maisonet
Adam Poole
If you would like to nominate a different candidate(s) for the above position(s), the nomination process is simple! Any five (5) members of the Region may nominate a candidate for any office; such nomination must be in writing, signed by the nominators and by the nominee and delivered to the Secretary on or before September 10.

Autocrossings

We have two more autcrosses this season: September 19th and 20th at Alaska Raceway Park. Please follow these links to the events:
AX10
AX11
This has been a bit of a strange season, but I am very happy that we have been able to have as many events as we have.
Remember, to qualify for the season you must have scores from more than half the qualifying events held. If you attend more than the required amount of events, your low scores will automatically drop. For example, it looks like we will have 9 events this season, so you will need to attend at least 5 events to qualify, and if you do more events, only the best 5 count.

Here are the season standings thus far:
We are hoping to have our autocross season end celebration sometime shortly after the last event- stay tuned for more details!

Top Dead Center - Area 13 Director Jeff Zurschmeide

"Now is the winter of our discontent made glorious summer" - or so Shakespeare thought.

In fact, SCCA is just doing its best to figure out where, when, and how we can put on some events and have some fun with our cars. I'm proud that Arctic Alaska Region was one of the first SCCA regions to get an event together this summer. Northwest Region's Majors race was also the first motorsports event in the state of Washington. All eyes were on us, and we did it right. As I write this, Oregon Region's Majors race is going forward, and we're hopeful for some autocrosses down here in the southern end of Area 13 as well.

On the national front, we're doing everything we can to make sure that there are national championships for 2020. We're adjusting qualification requirements in road racing, and even changing locations for RallyCross (thanks to Kent Hamilton for heavy lifting on that one) nationals. Through it all, our SCCA staff in Topeka and around the country have gone the extra mile to help the club reduce costs and still get the job done.

The circumstances we face this year are unlike anything in the history of SCCA or in the histories of all our communities. There's nothing to do but take it one day, one week, at a time and do the best we can. Through all this, I believe our motto of #FunWithCars is more important than ever. Maybe it's just a nice solitary drive through the hills to get out from the same four walls, but the reasons we joined SCCA are still applicable. We like to drive, we like to compete, and we like to figure out how to do it better than anyone else.

Stay safe,

Jeff

RallyCross Update:
We have dates submitted to our hosts, and hope to be publishing our schedule soon! This should be a heck of a season- stay tuned.
