NEWS AND EVENTS
A result of preaching sequentially through books of the Bible is that we come to passages that we might not otherwise have chosen to preach on. This Sunday morning our Mark series takes us to Jesus' teaching on marriage and divorce in Mark 10:1-12. Our evening series in 1 Corinthians finds us with the question, 'Does the Bible tell a better story about sex?' (1 Cor. 6). I'm aware that these might be personal and painful topics for some, so I wanted to alert you ahead of time so that you're not taken by surprise. Please pray for Hugh and me that we would preach God's word faithfully and sensitively. ('Rooted' – our youth meeting after the 6.00pm service –usually discusses the evening sermon, so parents might want to consider whether they're happy for their Year 6-7 children to be there this time). Steve Nichols
Ian and Christine Clarke would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the church family for the many messages of sympathy and support which have been greatly appreciated following the loss of their son Stewart. Thank you for your continued prayers.
The church family will be sad to hear that Jean Griffiths went to be with the Lord earlier this morning. Jean & Harvey had recently moved to Lindfield and had become very much part of the fellowship at 11.15am. Please pray for Harvey at this time, their daughter Janet (Dingemans) and the wider family.
Congratulations to Annette and Gordon Scoble on achieving their Diamond Wedding Anniversary on Thursday 6 October!

Mission Partner Focus: Lucy and Pete at YWAM
The Mission Adventure team we hosted got to pray with some of the people they met while doing a community survey and sharing their faith when they gave out water bottles on the hottest day of the year. Please pray for the seven young people that they will continue to put their faith into action!
We raised all the funds needed for our trip to Poland and Ukraine and drove the 2000 mile round trip across Europe. Lucy was in Krakow with her teammates providing hospitality to Ukrainian YWAM missionaries having respite in the city. Pete was in the border city of Rzeszow and went into Ukraine a few times and met many families fleeing the conflict. Please pray for the YWAM Ukraine initiative Warm for Winter; building 100 tiny homes as shelter for Ukrainians who have lost their homes. Please pray for the YWAM's refugee response in all the countries bordering Ukraine and those still waiting for respite.
Our English classes are going really well! We have nine people who come consistently three times a week. We've had students from a wide range of countries, Syria, Iraq, Turkey, Romania and Ukraine! Our community is growing and we're having a bring and share lunch next weekend and will meet some of their family members! Please pray that we would be able to create a ministering community for our students.
At Gather, our women's ministry, we are looking at how to develop our 'reflection corner' a part of the drop-in with a focus on prayer. We will also start some specialised team training to support our Gather guests. Please pray for the ministry. Please pray that we would figure out how to do a simple soup lunch in a way that blesses our guests but doesn't create a dependency that we can't maintain.
When Lucy's car was written off she bought a new electric bike. Please pray for her as she whizzes around Thanet, and that she'll find a good car and THANK GOD for the generosity that enabled these purchases! Please pray for Lucy and Pete’s upcoming annual leave – for downtime, rest and relaxation with God.
