Joshua and Eloise Griffiths

A warm welcome to Joshua and Eloise Griffiths and family  and friends attending their dedication at the 9.30am service this Sunday.

Drop-in café

On Mondays in August we are running a drop-in café in the Tiger lounge. We are open from 9.00am until 12noon. It's a simple opportunity to pop out and have a chat with others. Why not invite a friend who might otherwise be on their own? If you've got little ones, there will be a small area for them to have a play too.
During this time (9.30–10.30am) we'll also be running English language lessons for our Ukrainian friends in some other rooms in the Tiger. Do come along for a cuppa, catch up and a chance to meet new people, both from here and Ukraine.

Fellowship Lunch

With more than 60 folks booked in we’re looking forward to our informal lunch this Sunday. The good news is that we plan to do this again later this autumn. Look out for the date and book early! Carrie

'My Questions'

What should it feel like to be a Christian? Does prayer actually make a difference? Does the Christian faith have anything to do with my workplace? Why don't I enjoy reading the Bible?
This autumn you are invited to explore questions about the Christian faith that you always wanted to ask, but perhaps never felt able to. We'll select one question to explore together each week over a meal. If you have a question, please do add it to the mix. Either fill out a paper form on Sunday, or follow the link below and submit your question online, anonymously if you wish:  We'll meet on Wednesdays in September. Further details, including start date and how to join will he published in the new few weeks.

Men United

A date for you diaries – our first Men United breakfast following the summer break will be on Saturday Sept 10. Once again, we will meet in the church for coffee/tea and pastries. Our time together will Include an interview with Bob Harrison. Booking will be nearer the time through the church booking system, look out for information in ASN.

Mission Partner Focus: Open Doors

Over 360 million Christians suffer persecution and discrimination yet they follow
Jesus, no matter the cost.
This week we concentrate on three countries that are not often in the news:
Myanmar (formerly Burma)
Unrest continues following the military takeover. Three Christians were recently killed in an attack on four homes in a rural village. A church used as a refugee camp was raided by military forces, while another was bombed.
  • Please pray for an end to conflict and for the Holy Spirit to guide and strengthen Christians in their response to the conflict
Recently, a church was completely destroyed by fire in a remote village in Bangladesh – the local Christians are struggling to find answers and receive justice from the local authorities.
  • Please pray that the believers will find favour in the eyes of the local authorities and that the perpetrators will be brought to justice.
Christians in Tunisia could be further exposed to persecution after the country voted in favour of a new constitution that gives sweeping powers to the sitting president.   Observers have raised concerns over the provisions that could restrict the rights of believers in the name of Islam.
  • Please pray that religious minorities will continue to be protected and for a reduction in persecution of Christians
Also, many of us would have enjoyed watching the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham.
·       Please remember in your prayers the competing countries that are currently on the Open Doors World Watch List:
Nigeria (7), Pakistan (8), India (10), Maldives (16), Bangladesh (29), Cameroon (44), Mozambique (41), Malaysia (50).

Prayer for our community and nation

Please join us on Saturday mornings, 8.45am to 9.30am at Lindfield Evangelical Church.

Praying for the church family

Please continue to hold in your prayers those known to you who may be especially in need of God's comfort at this time and especially for:

Beth and Will Leonard
Beth had her operation on Monday which went well. We can already see a significant improvement in her right leg which we are extremely grateful for. We would value prayer for Beth’s six-week recovery to go well, and for her to stay free from any post op infections or complications. We are thankful to All Saints for all your prayers, we have felt very supported.

Al and Sarah Paxton
Please continue to pray for Al.
