News and Events

Afternoon tea with jazz in aid of Family Support Work

James and Janet Dingemans have very kindly offered the use of a marquee in their garden to Family Support Work on Bank Holiday Monday 30 August. FSW will be holding afternoon tea with live jazz and would like to extend an invitation to all the church family. This will take place from 2.30-5.30pm at Townlands, 143 High Street with a suggested donation of £20 per person. If you would like attend, FSW needs to know numbers in advance so please or phone 01273 832963 with your name and the number of tickets you would like. The deadline is Monday 23 August so please confirm your attendance asap!

Graham Wood

Graham's funeral will be on Wednesday 25 August at 2.30pm at Lindfield United Reformed Church and there will be refreshments afterwards. Please pray for Jacqueline and Julia.
Please make donations to the Macular Society instead of flowers. If you wish to donate click on the link below or send a cheque to Masters & Son.

Pop-up Crazy Golf

On Sunday 29 August we will be transforming the church into a crazy golf course for an unforgettable golfing experience!
It will be open from 1.30–3.30pm. Please join us for a wacky and unexpected round of golfing fun.

Licensing Service for our new vicar

The Licensing Service for Steve Nichols will take place on Thursday 2 September at 7.30pm. Given the current restrictions on meetings in church we are having to run at a lower capacity than normal. As a consequence we are sadly unable to have as many of the church family there as we normally would, and it will be invite-only on this occasion. If you would like to support and follow the service a live stream will be available on the ASL YouTube channel.
We would very much hope to see as many church family at Steve’s first Sunday (5 September) when he will be preaching at all the services, and we can celebrate his arrival then. Please do book into the services for that Sunday nearer the time (and we politely request you just book one service that week to enable as many people as possible into a physical service that week).
Thank you for your understanding. Love in Him
Katie and Laurence, churchwardens

Women Together: Events for your diary

There are two events to look forward to this term, both relaxed and cafe-style in church, both on Saturday evenings from 8.00-9.30pm. Look out for further publicity and booking details nearer the time.
Saturday 9 October: We'll interview Janine Bending. A chance to get to know our children's pastor. She's been around a while, but some of you may have only seen her on a screen talking to a puppet and many of you won't have had chance to talk to her!
Saturday 4 December: A Christmassy evening to invite a friend to. We'll have Trish Scobell from Crowborough as our guest speaker. She is an outreach and pastoral worker and speaks winsomely about Jesus!
Also, the Southern Women's Convention is happening at All Saints Crowborough on Saturday 2 October. To find out more and book a place, follow this link. If you plan to go, do let Becca Nicholls know and she will try and coordinate some lifts.

Beyond All Saints

Retreat Day

For many years All Saints has supported The Haven, a Christian charity running a pregnancy counselling centre. On Saturday 25 September they are hosting a Miscarriage Healing Retreat Day, called LOVED. It offers time and space to reflect, find peace and understanding, as well as opportunity to share with others who have also felt the pain of such a loss and to acknowledge that these babies were loved. If you have been affected by miscarriage, do consider going along. There are limited places so book early. The event will take place at North Lodge, Hurstpierpoint. There will be a small charge of £20 to cover costs (including lunch and refreshments) For more information and to book a place you can call 020 7227 4709 or email:

Sussex Gospel Partnership Training Courses

Have you thought of doing one the Sussex Gospel Partnership Training Courses which a good number of people in the church have already benefitted from and enjoyed?
The courses which are led by Nick McQuaker and Jon Hobbs are designed to equip men and women of all ages for Bible-centred ministry over a one to two-year period.
Starting in late September, there are two formats:
Day-time Tuesdays, the Sussex Ministry Training Course (meeting weekly from
10.00am–4.15pm at Cuckfield Baptist Church, near Haywards Heath)
The Saturday Morning Bible Training Course (meeting monthly from 9.30am–
1.00pm at Bishop Hannington Church in Hove)
Visit or ring Nick McQuaker (07722 295340) if you would like to find out more. To request an application form, email Wendy Sands, the course administrator.

Mission Partner Focus: Five Talents

Five Talents is an Anglican microfinance charity working in marginalised communities of the world. Supporters invest in enabling the enterprising poor to set up small businesses by providing business training and literacy courses alongside savings and microloan facilities. This ‘hand-up’ rather than a ‘hand-out’ is creating jobs and transforms lives among the poor in 12 countries.
Give thanks and praise for
The impact that Five Talents programmes have had over the past 10 years:
A 40% increase to 98% of clients who have increased their family expenditure
A 44% increase to 85% of clients who can afford school fees
A 50% increase to 97% of clients who can have access to three meals per day.
Please pray that
There is a reduction in Covid cases in East Africa, there is a good recovery from those who are hospitalised and there is an increase in vaccine equity
The present security issues in Myanmar and South Sudan are peaceably resolved.
There is an end to the present drought in Karamoja, Uganda and other areas in East Africa where Five Talents work.
