Youth Weekends Away – can you help?

We are looking for folks to provide hot meals on Saturday evening and Sunday lunchtime for the Engage Weekend Away on 28/29 January at the Westwatch Centre, just past Horsted Keynes.  We are hoping to have 20 young people (aged 10-14) and 5 leaders who would be grateful for whatever you can provide!  If you can't help on this occasion, the older teens group, Encrypt, are having their Weekend Away at the same venue on 25-26 February, and are also looking for cooks for Saturday evening and Sunday lunch.  If you can help in any way, please drop me a line.  Many thanks.  stuart.silk@lindfield.info  / 07866 487535

MISSION

Mission Partner Focus: Tearfund

Please give thanks for
Yemen – for the short-lived ceasefire declared in April; this resulted in people’s lives being improved with the number of people forced to flee their homes being nearly halved and the price of food, fuel and other essentials stabilising for the last six months

COP27 – for the positive steps that have been taken at the UN summit including the creation of a “loss and damage fund” to provide reparations to developing countries who have contributed the least to climate change but are being adversely affected the most

Ukraine – for the leadership in the church in Ukraine and across the wider region providing a voice for peace and providing the resources that is needed to help people who are vulnerable.

Please pray for
Yemen – efforts to extend the ceasefire have failed and the country has been plunged back into conflict; we pray that further negotiations will take place to enable another ceasefire to be put in place and lasting peace achieved

COP27 – for leaders of high-income countries that they will turn words into actions and be held to account for their agreement to limit global heating to a relatively safer limit of 1.5°C

Ukraine – for an immediate end to the violence, diplomatic solutions be found which will lead to lasting peace in the region and people who have fled will be able to return home.
Peter Desmond, Tearfund Representative

Family Support Work prayer points

Please pray
For the families who are suffering increasingly complex problems, particularly mental health issues and financial concerns

For the family support practitioners who all have full caseloads and full waiting lists that they don't feel overwhelmed

For the Trustees and senior management team who are looking at a new strategy for the next three years to see how FSW can be as effective as possible

For the Cuckfield Deanery committee as we seek new ways to fundraise and encourage our church families to support and get involved. Also for new committee members to join the committee

For the Christmas food hampers that are being made this week for Christmas parties, that they may give love and light to the families receiving

For opportunities to speak of the gospel at the many FSW Christmas events (carol services, family Christmas parties etc) over the next two weeks
