NEWS AND EVENTS
Stuart Silk
Many will have heard the news at church on Sunday that Stuart Silk has been appointed Priest-in-Charge of St Mary's and St John's churches, Barrow-in-Furness in the Diocese of Carlisle and Evangelism Enabler. I'm sure you will share my delight for Stuart in this new opportunity, but also my sadness that we will be saying goodbye to him, Kath, Jude, Peter, Dan and Matty.
Stuart has poured himself into the life of All Saints for many years, as Youth Worker, Associate Vicar, DIY Extraordinaire and Friend. The whole Silk family have modelled serving others with faithfulness and humility. For myself, I could not have asked for a more supportive colleague and I will miss Stuart and all the family very much. But our loss is a huge gain for Barrow. In mid-January Stuart will step back from responsibilities here for a few weeks to have a rest and prepare for the move north (shortly before Easter 2023). Do pray for the whole Silk family. We will have an opportunity to thank them and contribute towards a leaving gift in the new year.
Warm Spaces
With rising energy bills and other costs, we are exploring ways of providing a 'warm space' to serve the local community. Following a recent meeting with other churches, the most helpful thing we can do at the moment is to volunteer to join in with Haywards Heath Baptist Church. If you would like to find out more, please do make contact with them. admin@hhbchurch.org.uk or 01444 451480.
8.00am Communion services in December
The pattern of our 8.00am Communion services will change will as follows (just for December), we will have 8.00am Communion services on Sundays 4, 11 December (not on 18th) and then on Christmas Day and Sunday 1 January.
Youth Clubs next week
On Thursday 10 November from 7.00-8.10pm in the Tiger, Engage (school years 6-9, ages 10-14) will be making cookie creations.
On Friday 11 November from 8.00-9.30pm in the Tiger, Encrypt (school years 10-13, ages 14-18) will be having a competitive games night. stuart.silk@lindfield.info / 07866 487535.
Roving meal – could you host a course?
On the evening of Friday 9 December the Encrypt youth club is hoping to have a roving meal around the village. We are looking for people within walking distance of the church to provide a starter or main course for a group of about five young people and leader. It doesn't need to be Michelin Star food, just a warm welcome and enough for hungry teenagers! We are planning to end up at the Tiger for desserts, so if you are too far from the church, but are able to provide a pudding, you can still get involved. If you can help, please drop me a line. Many thanks, Stuart stuart.silk@lindfield.info / 07866 487535
