Instructional Technology Initiative Puts Learning First
The 2019 Computer Science Education (CSE) Week will be from December 9 through 15, and ITI is hosting various CSE Week Professional Development and Showcase events at Practitioner Schools across LA Unified. These events provide an opportunity for District stakeholders to learn and immerse in computer science education and to understand the urgency for computer science expansion, with particular focus on building equity by increasing participation of the District’s Latinx and African-American students in this area of study. This level of engagement is consistent with the District and the Division of Instruction’s mission to bring professional development and instructional supports directly to school sites. During these PD and showcase, Local District leadership and instructional leadership teams from all schools are invited to visit ITI’s Practitioner Schools to immerse in computer science activities that include unplugged and block programming as well as physical computing and robotics.
To learn more about these professional development and showcases, as well as LAUSD's Computer Science Education initiatives, please visit our website at http://www.lausd.net/cse or follow our efforts through our official Twitter hashtag, #CS4LAUSD. If you have any questions about the CSE Week Professional Development and Showcase, please contact Dominic Caguioa at dbc4785@lausd.net or (213) 241-5532.
